Amendments to tue State Consti?
tution.?There are three amendments
to the Stnte Constitution, which will
be snbmitted to thb people nt the next

1. In regnrd to changing the bound?

the people interested.
2. It is proposed to change tho term
of office of the Comptroller-General,
Secretary of State, Treasurer, Attor
ney-Geuernl. Adjutant and Inspector
Genoral and Superintendent of Edu?
cation from four to two years, by which
all tho State officers will bo elected
every two years.
3. Tins amendment prohibits the
General Assembly from authorizing |
any County, city, town or villago to
become a stockholder in, or to louu its
credit to any company, association or
corporation for any amount exceeding
?ve per cent, of the assessed vuluu of
the taxable property of such County,

thereof, expressed at an election duly
held according to law.
BUTLER. ?While tbo Beast was speak

chievous yonng man about twenty
years old, Littlefield by name, voJuu

versally condemned, provoked at ilr6t

ed fixed for a moment, and then, as if
the thread was being twisted between
the thumb and finger, it began to wig?
gle and dance about liko a jumping
jack. The situation was so ludicrous
that it was perfectly irresistible, and
each one in the audience, as be com?
