Scott, Newberry. H. W. Lawson, Abbeville Drink and Die. I have been to the funeral of all my bones, And entombed them ono by one, Not a word wub said, nor a tear was shed, When the mournful task was done. Slowly and sadly I turned mo round And sought my Bilent room, And there alone, by the cold hearth? stone, I woo'd the midnight's gloom. And. as'the night wind's deepening ,shade Lowered about my brow, I wept o'er days when manhood's rays Were brighter far than now. The dying embers on the hearth Gave out their flickering light, As if to say, this in the way Thy life shall close in night. I wept aloud, in anguish sore. O'er the blight of prospects fair; While demons laughed and eagerly quaffed My tears like nectar rare. Through hills and halls an echo rang? An echo loud and long? As in the bowl, I plunged my soul, In the night of madness strong. And there within that sparkling glass, I knew Ihe cause to he; This all men own, from zone to zone, Yet.mUliona drink and diel - Mr. Moult on ig at Portland. Me.; Mr. Beeober is at PeekskiU for his holiday; Mr. Tilton is in Brooklyn, and Mrs. Tilton has disappeared. There has been quite a scattering, and it suggests the inquiry, "When Bhall these four meet againV" -|-1 ' Seegers' vs. Cincinnati Beer. THE Cincinnati Gazette makes the asto? nishing announcement that Cincinnati beer is ne longer pare, but adulterated with molasses, sugar of starch, fusel oil and the poisonous Colchicum. The Commissioner of Agriculture, in his report for 1805, says that Prof. Mapos, of New York, analysed the beer from a dozen different breweries, and found all of it adulterated. Coeonlaa Indiens and nuz vomica entored largely into its composition. J. U. SFEGERS guarantees his beer tobe pare and reliable. He does not adulterate it, but brews from the best barley, malt and hops. _Jan 23 KEROSENE ! ! BEBT QUALITY reduced to 25 cants per gallon, and delivered free to any por? tion of the city.
