A later despatch from Eureka gives the particulars of the storm yesterday. It bad been raining with groat vio? lence, from early in the morning until noon, when a oload burst on u lofty range of mountains to the Eastward, und a vast volume of water washed down tbo cauon, where tbe town is located. Tbe Eastern part of tho town was flooded in teu minutes by a fearful rush of water, which coustautly in? creased iu violence, depth and impetu? osity. The people wero hemmed iu, and every moment bouses wero torn from their foundations and swept away, with their occupants. Ropes were procured aud a lino formed, aud brave mon, thus protected, dashed into the torrent, saving many lives. Only a few women and children wero lost. Roger Robnett, the reporter of the Sentinel, is among the drowned. Tbe Sentinel office was swept away. Bodies are being brought to tbo Court House ns fast as recovered. Three Chinamen were lost, thirty bouses swept away and all that part of the town ia whioh is situated dance houses and other places of amusement is goao. The flood lasted half an hoar.
