BY JULIAN A. SELBY. Civixi Rights,?A very good story is circulating in Washington at tho ex? pense of Mr. Morril), of Maine. It seems that tho Senator was oat for a walk Sunday evening. In passing a leading colored church, he was so pleased with the singing that ho went in. Ho hud been seated but a few minutes, when a colored dignitary ap? proached him, and said in snbstance that tho church was for colored peo? ple, and they preferred to b- left un? disturbed by white people daring their services. Mr. Morrill immediately re? tired. A few days before, he bad been earnestly working for tbo passage of the OiVil Rights Bill. /? What awful printers they have in the "delioious" city of Atlanta. It was only the other day that the editor of the Commonwealth wrote something about the "quondam sohool-marme," and the typos made it "God damn;" and now another editor? in writing of Atlanta's soiled doves, is made to say that "the best way to do them is to send them to hell; when they get oat, they will do better." The editor de? clares that he wrote "jail," bat if the printer prefers hell, he oan go there when he pleases. A youth, named Marshall, near Dan bury, in Wilkes County, Ga., wrote a note to a young lady and signed the name of Williams, one of his com? panions at Bohool. The latter, greatly incensed, met Marshall on the school steps and stabbed him to the heart. After the murder be escaped to the woods. A supposed incendiary fire iu Orangebarg, on the 9th, destroyed a valuable residence owned by Mr. Samuel Dibble, and occupied by Au? ditor Van Tassel. Very little of the furniture saved. Partial insurance on the' house. Mrs. Bread, of Sullivan County, 111., bas verified the Scriptural injunction, "Oast 'your bread upon the waters," &c. She cast'her husband (Bread) into a mill pond, but bo came back unsubdued and crusty;. The London Times has a telegraph wire between London" and Paris for itu exclusive use, and for which it pays $15,000. Tho Augusta Memorial Association has $10,000 in band, and proposes to have the monument made at home by Markwalter. , I To Rent.;, *3gL A SMALL HOUSE ; with throe! y{?Jf rooms, on bull street. Mail matter addressed without box number or Btreet number, will be de? livered as expeditionsly an possible, eilher through boxes, general delivery or currier. Correspondents should direct their letters plainly, correctly und fully, und those who rent boxes would greatly facilitate the business if they will print conspicuously on their letter headings, circulars, bill-heads, curds und enve? lopes a reqnost to correspondents to address letters to their respective box numbers, and if those who receive mail mutter by carriers would direct their correspondents to include in nil oases the proper streets and numbers in the addresses of all letters.
