BY JULIAN A. SELBY. A Battle Between Three Blind Men.?Tbe New Orleans Picayune, of the 27th ultimo, publishes an account of a battle between three blind men, beggars. Two of tbe mendicants, named Fat. Horan and Thomas Fer? nen, had a quarrel iu regard to domes? tic affairs, when Horan determined to call upon the god of battles to settle their differences, and for this purpose, Fat. called on his friend, Mike Kell;, another blind man, to accouipauy bim to Fernon's house. When en route for the latter place, Horan beard Fernon's voice, and going up to bim, remarked: "My wife says you struck my boy to? day." "Yes, I did, and will ogaiu." "If you want to strike anybody, strike mo." At this Fernon gave a war whoop and prepared for battle, and tbu two begau feeling around for each other with their sticks. Fernon, while reach? ing out in one direction, found himself grasped by the arms, and beforo ho could litorally eay "Jack Robiusou" Horan had him by tho uobo with his teeth, and actually bit off that useful and ornamental member. "Ah, ha!" he Bbrieked, but barely were tbe words out of his mouth wheu Horau seized him by the lip with his teeth and also bit that off. Fernon, being unable to see, could only roar and rave. When changiuy his bold, his cannibalistic nnlngoiiic-t seized him by tbe shoulder, and also took out a mouthful. In tbu mean? time, Kelly, who was also bliud, had managed to feel where the uotnhulaul.-i i weroiwith his stick, and struightwiiy belabored Fernem within un inch of tbe remaining life he bud iu him, and, indeed, might have brought his beg . ging career to au tud forever, hud not a police officer arrived and marched tbe trio into tbe caliibuoee, Ferrum minus bis nose and ear, which be wrapped neatly in a piece of newspaper and sent to the family. A learned German, named Dr. II. Benedix, has published a book on "The Shakspeare Mania." He objects to tbe popular adoration of the great English dramatist. He objects to tbe style of composition; he condemns the morality of tbe plays; be expresses ex? treme 6urpris9 that the admirers of Shakspeare snould extol him as the most imaginative of poets. For bis part, Dr. Benedix finds him very bom bastical, Thero are several Shukspe riaa heretics who agree ivith Dr. Bene? dix, but they will probably continue to all eternity to be iu tbe minority. When Mr. Benjamin F. Butler offered a bill in tbe House of Repre? sentatives, the other day, to convert certain negroes into Choctaw Iudiunc, a Democratic member inquired, in a timid sort of way, whether the Go? vernment had any right to do wh.\t the General proposed. "The Govern? ment," was tbe prompt and contempt? uous reply, "has a right to do what it pleases with anybody within its juris? diction. Tbe General Governmont, if it chooses, oau tako the shirt off your back." ?????????1WH S 300.000 MI880URI STATE LOTTERIES! Legalized by State Authority, rv? BRA WN IN P UBLIG IN ST. LOUIS.
