A Pen Picture of the Happv: Pair. George Alfred Townsend writes to the Chicago Tribune concerning Miss Grant aud Mr. Sartoris, thus: Nellie Iibb grown to be a fine, pi? quant young woman, with a squarish body, thin but graceful arms, u coun? tenance expressing her mother's spirit with some of the solidity of her father's features, and the general appearance of a hearty, long-lived matron. Mr. Sartoris is u young English lad, below the average height and bulk of Eng? lish youths, with an amiable face, atraight flaxen hair, out short; and he conveys an idea of good intentions and gentle breeding, without great force. But confound force; we have too much foroe?too muoh big jaw and copper lined stomach; too mnch drive aud bolting of meals, fed to the human in? testines an if we were poking cord wood into an old steamboat furnace. We don't need any force, particularly at weddings. Acquitted.-?D. J. Carter, Esq. editor of the Lancaster Ledger, was honorably acqaitted last week of a charge of murder. About a year ago, Mr. Garter shot in the dark and accidentally killed a man by the name of H. J. Hickson, whom he heard in his yard after he had retired at night. There was much excitement over' the trial. Judge Mackey pre? sided. Southern'Express Company. E\JPKie8? FORWARDERS. SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE, Columbia, B.C., May 23, 187-1. L, S.
