BY JULIAN A. SELBY. Lately a company of ninety five Eng? lishmen went to Oaprera to visit Gari? baldi, but being indisposed, he was1 ahlA to rAnnjoo nnjn *W/J u?sCfttGS of t'?!0 party, to whom be made his acknow ledgments for tue expressions of affeo tion and sympathy which they came to offer. During the last three years, 130 steamers have landed at the island of Oaprera. Before it became the resi? dence of Garibaldi, not a vessel touched there. Four Neapolitan ships now bear the name of Garibaldi. In tho post three years, he has received presents to the valae of 14,000 to 16,000 Italian lire (francs.) These are instruments of agriculture, coming, for the most part, from America. Moreover, he bun re? fused in the samo period other offerings in money and objects of value amount? ing to nearly a million. Garibaldi is an honorary citizen of ninety cities, bo? roughs and villages; honorary president of 120 societies and the possessor of twenty-ono swords of honor, eleven of which have come from foreign lands. Since 1871, there have been presented to him 5,000 addresses of homage and devotion. In oonseqnence of tho supe? rior pneans of cultivating the soil pos? sessed at Caprera, his annual income may be estimated at about 3,000 lire. Revenue Officers on a Drunk.? About the 13th, a party of revenue of? ficers from Anderson made a raid, through the lower edge of that Couuty, upon tho whiskey wagons. They even went so far as to intrude upon Abbeville territory and madea number of seizures, and imagined that they were doing themselves and their country good ser? vice. Bo thinking, they grew happy, and took a little too muoh improperly stamped whiskey. It made the drunk come just ub well aa if it had been stamped by President Grant himself? in fact, they got awful drunk, and, while oblivious to all earthly surroundings, they suffered the prizes they had cap? tured to make good their escape. Such officers should be tried by a drum head court martial and sentenced to do penance for thirty days. Barred shirts would bring them to their senses. [Abbeville Medium. Lieutenant H. H. Berner, of the post at Yorkvillo, has been making it pretty lively for the violators of internal re? venue laws in. the up-country. Within a few days be has aided in the destruc? tion of about a dozen stills, a large quantity of mnsb, and captured a num - her of the law-breakers. IMPORTED PARTAGAS!
