Ahl the treasures, rich and rare, Full of endless life and beauty, Which that dawn created there. How Koffee Went Down.?A queer I story is told of King Koffee. After the defeat of his favorite general, he con? voked an assembly of bis Fetishes, to j consult the sacred oraoles as to the fu? ture; promising them their lives should be spared, no matter what might be the result of their eonsnltation with the gods. Two rams were introduced in the temple, one of which was black and the other white, and they were encouraged to book each other in mortal combat. The black ram was killed by his white antagonist. The Fetishes then declared that everytbing looked blaok on the | prospects of King Koffee, except the streets of his capital?OoomasBie?which were red with blood. The King, inter? preting the oraolo to mean that ho shonid be defeated by the English, forthwith sent an embassy to Sir Gurnet suing for peace. A strong-minded female, who was ar? guing, the othor day, that the condition of a married woman was slavish, was ef? fectually silenced by her opponent, who said.'
