The Emii to Abolish the ?'Iron? clad" Oath and Political Dibabili ttIw.?General Butler and Judge White, of Alabama,' having beeD appointed a subcommittee on two bills, heretofore introduced in the House, and referred to tho Committee on the Judiciary, to abolish the test or "iron-clad" oath in all Oases where it is now required by law, have prepared a loDg report upon tho subject in favor of the abolition, which they will submit to tho full com? mittee. There seems to bo no doubt that the majority of the House are in favor of the relief, as they are disposed to restore a better fcoling, and remove as far as they oan all traoeB of discon? tent growing-out of the late war. Such a bill will enable the Postmaster Gen? eral to select deputy postmasters com? petent to the performance of the duties required; whereas, at present, ho is re? stricted in his selections to those who can tabo the-test oath, not a few of the post offices yielding but a Bmall sum in the way of compensation, and being! more especially for the convenience of 1 sparsely settled Sostbern neighbor? hoods. Personh excluded from pen? sions, by reason of having aided or countenanced the rebellion, will, to a limited extent, be restored. Buoh a bill will also enable persons of competent means to contract for carrying the mails in the South, end relievo otherB now exoluded from public service on ac? count of political disabilities. ?? ? ?> 9 -?
