Palmetto Btate Immigration Agenoy I? Its Object.?The object of this *genoy is to introduce and settle in Sooth Carolina the^best possible classes of laborers and citizens from other countries, and thereby aid in develop ing the resources of the State. Its im? mediate work is the directing of the tide of immigration into Sonth Carolina, to supply the ? jat demand for labor and oitiaenship. II? Its N. :ube.?The Agenoy is un-| der control of no society, board or cor? poration, bot is oomposed of proprie? tor* agents and patrons, who are actua? ted by motives of personal and publio benefit. The ordinary principles of ho? nest enterprise shall govern the Agenoy in its operations. It is the design of this enterprise to make a oaroful selec? tion of persons ordered, and to give; speolal attention to^lic introduction of families into the Stnto. Farmers, gar? deners, mechanics, domestics, &o., of al? most any nationality, can bo furnisher1, but profnrfirjO? is given to EsglisL, ', Irish, Scotch, Swiss and Germaus. III? Expenses asd Fee.?Tho Ageuoy will require persons ordering immi? grants to pay $15 for euch adult, und $10 for each child between the ages of four and fourteen, to defray tho ex pcnBCB of transportation and board, from New York to nuy railroad town or station in the State; and, also, a feo of, $5 for eaoh person over four years old, i one-half of which tho employer will pay, and the other half will be charged' to the immigrant. Tho person order? ing mu?t, therefore, forward $20 for eaoh immigrant over fourteen, and $15 for each child between four and four? teen years of age, oharging the one $17.50, and the other $12 50, himself paying $2.50 (half the fee) for each. No charges for transportation or fee will be made for "children under fonr years of age. The money must, in all oases, be forwarded before tho orders can be filled. IVf?"Gen gbaxi Remarks.?1. The Agenoy makea contracts with common laborers at 912 for men, and $S for wo? men, per month, inoluding board. This can be changed by the mutual consent of the employer and employee. 2. 'The Agenoy suggests that employ? ers allow their immigrants to return the amount advanced for expenses in small installments, paying a part in canh for eaoh month. It would bo well, also, to use every effort to make these strangers who. come in our midst contented, prosperous and cheerful. 3. Lrooal agents are solicited in every County in the State, to Bcouro end for? ward orders and money, and to co-op? erate in delivering tho persons on ar? riving at their respectivo places, for which a liberal oommiesion will bo paid. 4. Money must bo sent by express, cheok or post office order, and all com? munications addressed to . TILMAN K. GAINE3, Columbia, S. C.
