The engineer department of tho navy will at onoe prepare torpedoes with the needful elootrical instruments and wires, &c, to be placed at proper points along the coast. It is believed, too, that onr torpedo boats will do splendid service at sea, when called upon to prove their destructive power. In the Into Franco-Prussian war, the splendid navy of France could do nothing along the Qerman Bea-board, on account of the terrible torpedoes with which the Germans had lined all the approaches to their harbors and coasts. We are far ahead of Spain, and even of Germany, in this tremendous weapon?tho tor? pedo. It is an American invention.
