There seems to be a miriatare Credit Mobilier ringln Missouri. The Kansas City Times says that previous to 18G8, the State had guaranteed to certain rail? roads $23,000,000, holding as security first mortgages upon the property of .the roads; that in 1868, a ring -was formed, which bribed the Legislature for $200, ? 000 to change the guaranteed debt into an absolute debt of $16,000,000, leaving ] the State without any security whatever. The Supreme Court is to decide whether thelegiBlation is valid or not. The New York Herald, nearly every day this week, has had somi?thing to say about the debt of this State. Among several suggestions made, is one that a luuding of the debt on a basis of fifty cents on the dollar might prove a practi? cal way of restoring oontidunco and got ting 8 fair start again* on a eure financial basis. ?MSB ?
