It true, it jb a disgrace to the Stato of Iowa;that anch groaa injustice should have' boon dono the ? old : oqnple, who .manifestly erred | 0^ArWSh igporanca: , jt,,IV:fnUr There are now iu the State ,Peniten? tiary, in Fort Madiaon, in aged con pi o who are serving out k term for thecrime of incest, .they being brother and sister. The story la this, which' ie true: At the ago of twelve years, the ? taalo left bis father's house to seek, his fortune and no more rotprp. lip, in time, oama Wont, grew to manhood and married, raised n family or children, and finally his wife died. Hie sister grew-to womanhood, wa? married, and with her husband oame West and to Iowa. Her husband died, and in timo she received an offer of mar? riage'from, a man who was a widower. She nohepted the offer, arid they were married, r Her husband was wealthy, and after-a lime*, one pi. the sons wished to have the father give him some property; but tho father refused "to accede to his demands. The son, one day, while look? ing over the family record of the stop mother, :which had been laid aside and forgotten, discovered that there was kin? ship' between the families, and further investigation proved that his father and step-mother were own brother and Bister. To avenge himself for his father refusing to give him the balk of his property, he brought suit against both of them for incest.' They weio tried and wonvicted, and sent to the penitentiary for one year. . Thoy aro both over sixty years of ago, and.as innocent of intent to commit orime as a new-born babe; - - '? ? ' The English bad boy does net differ materially from bie American brother. He threw stones at Gladstone and called hint a *"guy" the other day.1 The great statesman threw aside his''dignity and' his bat and went for the boy, andoattght hiauafier a run of three squares. t Af-gontloman at Lanoaster, Pa.has a horse that takes his children to school in the morning, returning home driverlesa, and at night returns lor them in the eame way, rubbing his noae against the window pane to indicate his presence.
