Responsibility of Dormant Part? ners.?In the United States Circuit Court, before Judges Bond and Giles, in the case of the First National Bank o! Virginia against Samuel Taylor Suit, which was on trial for three days, the jaryr on Saturday, rendered a verdiot'fo defendant. This oase involved an inte? resting question of the responsibility of dormant partners. Samuel T. Suit, the defendant, lent $5,000 to George W. ' Ely to enable him to go into the banking business in New York as partner in the firm of Boteler & Ely?the money to be returned in one year, and Ely to give Suit one-half of his share of the profits. Plaintiff alleged also that Suit held him? self out as a partner in the said firm, which defendant denied. The court ralsd that defendant, Suit, oould not be* held liable for the debts of the firm on the contract with cse member of it, that being an individual loan, and not to the partnership, and the share of profits being only half of Ely's, whioh he had a right to dispose of as he pleased; bat that if defendant represented himself to plaintiff as a partner in euch a way that I plaintiff dealt with said firm on the ere-! dit of his responsibility, then he was lia? ble This question of faot went to el jury, and their verdict was rendered for j defendant.?Baltimore Sun. $1,000 Reward is offered by the pro? prietor of Dr. Pieroe's Golden Medioal Discovery for a mcdioiuo that will equal it in the euro of Bronchitis, severe | Coughs, and the early stages of Con? sumption. Twenty Years Younger.?To say that hundreds of maids, wives and widows look twenty years younger than they are in oonsequenoe of the complezional freshness derived from the use of Ha gan's Magnolia Balm, is simply to state an absolute faot, which might be prompt? ly verified by direct testimony if ladies wero as willing to tell their ages as to uso the best means of making themselves lovely. Nature sometimes, but very rarely, orowns the charm of perfect fea? tures with a complexion of exquisite! clearness; but even then time soon be-1 gins to make inroads npon the velvet ^ cheek, the fair white brow, the ivory bast, the ronnded arm. To preserve the "glory of woman" unblemished, even after the meridian of life has been passed, it is only necessary to use daily this cool? ing, healthful vegetable preparation. Nov 28 . fl-3 Singular Rape Case.?A rape case has just been tried in Liancabter. ra., on a charge made by a Mrs. Eby against Dr. George Ferard. The orimo was alleged to have been committed in a hotel at Lancaster, where the doctor was stopping, while the prosooutrix was under the influence of chloroform admi? nistered without her conaont and With? out k?OWl^d?? of t.rm ffim. The trial occupied several days, and a large num? ber of medioal experts were examined in relation to the effects of anoasthetios and - the methods of administering them. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty as to the grave ohargo, but convicted the prisoner of administering a drag with intent to oommit a felony. Dr. Ferard, who is over Boventy-nino years of age, and a man of considerable culture, made quite an eloquent appeal to the mercy of the oourt. Ho was sentenced to eight eon mon'hV ironrisonment at hard labor. Here is the way the local of the Thomoston Herald tells that a man is going to be married: "Mr. O. F. Oeing purely ^vegetable, thoy con? tain no mercury or mineral whatever. Much serious sick neas and Buffering in provonted by their timely use; and every family should have them on baud for their protootion and relief, when re? quired. Long experience ban proved them to bo tho safest, surest and best of all tho Fills with which the market abounds. By their occasional uso, the blood is purified, the cor-, ruptione of tho system expolled, obstructions removed, and the wholo machinery of lifo re? stored to its healthy activity. Internal or gans which becomo clogged and sluggish are cleansed by Ayer's mils, and stimulated into action. Tims incipient disease is changed into health, the value of which chango, when reckoned on the vast multitudes who enjoy it, can hardly be competed. The BUgRr coating makes them pleasant to take, and preserves their virtues unimpaired for any length of time, eg that thoy are over fresh, and per? fectly reliable. Although searching, they are mild, and operate without disturbance to the constitution, or diet, or occupation. Full dircottone are given on the wrapper to each box, how to use them as a Family Phvsic, and for the following complaints, which these Pills rapidly onre: For Dyspepsia, or Indigestion, Llatleas neaa. Languor and lioss or Appetite, they should be takeu moderately to stimulate the stomach, and restore its healthy tone and action. For lilver Complaint and ita various Symptoms, Billons Headache, Hielt Head? ache, Jaundice or Green Sickness, Bil? ious Oollc and Bllloaa Fevers, they should be judiciously taken for each case, to correct the diseased action or remove tho obstruc? tions which cauae it. For Dysentery or Diarrhoea, bat one mild doeo is generally required. For Rheumatism, Ooaf, Gravel, Palpi? tation or the Heart, Pain In the Slue, Back and bolna, they should be continuous? ly taken, as required, to change the diseased action of the system. With such change thoso complaints disappear. Foi Dropsy and Dropsical Swellings, they should be taken iu large and frequent doses to produce the effect of a drastic purge. For Suppression, a largo doso should be taken, as it produces tho desired effect by sympathy. As a Dinner Pill, take ono or two Pills to promote digestion and rolievo tho stomach. An occasional doso stimulates tho stomach and bowels, restores the appetite and invigo? rates the syetem. Hence it is often advan? tageous where no serious derangement ex? ists. One who feels tolerably well, often finds that a dose of these Pill* mako him feoldeci? dedly hotter, from their cleansing and reno? vating effect on the digestive apparatus. rREPAnnn nv D r. J. 0.
