The Wbeokhd Whalkbs.?Oar readers may remember that one year ago a fleet of whalers suffered disasters in the Arotio Ooean, and many of them were wrecked with great losa of life, and many were abandoned in the ioo fields. Theae last have remained solitary and desolate. There were among this fleet five ships ioe bound nearly iu a gronp. All of them had cargoes on board whose valne ranged from $20,000 to $50,000. The cargoes were too valuable to be lost with? out an effort being made to eavo some portion of them. Bo the bark Florence was fitted ont in San Francisco, and sailed for the Arotio region and the vicinity of the wrecks. Ab she approach ed, however, she found her progress barred by floating ioe. Not to be daunt? ed, the captain left the bark, and em? barking the orew in the boats, polled for eighty miles fur the. jfortb. They found tbo vessels lying ribbed in by the eternal ioe, just where they wore left when the Btorm threw them on the ioe field and their crews had to desert them. Around them were scattered BparB, timbers, planks, staves, casks, hoops, boxes of soap, bread, and thousands of other things whiob eloquently told the tale of wreok and ruin. The adventurous Flo? rence obtained a full cargo of whale oil, and rescued and got afloat one of the abandoned vessels, which was also loaded.
