INDIAN SPIRITUALISTS.-Tho Indian
delegation, at present in Washington,
paid a visit last Tuesday to the tomb of
Washington at Mt. Vernon. On their
way down the river they were told that
they were going to visit the tomb of the
first Great Father. On their arrival at
the tomb each Indian walked np to the
irbn door, and passing his right hand
through the grating, shook it, as if shak?
ing the hand of u friend. When asked
by the interpretor what they were doing,
their reply was, "We are shaking hands
with the spirit of the Great Father."
An old gentleman from Lee County,
Ga., traveling Northward on the Soutli
* western Railroad, in reply to a qnery if
he bad any caterpillars on his place, thus
dismally replien :
"Last GhueBday, thay appeared in a

of fence on thc place; this morning, thay
