O., has cultivated twenty two acres of ootton during the past spring and summer, with no other assist? ance than one negro girl, whom sbo hired for the year for fifty-six dollars. The yoong Indy did tho hoeing, while the girl did the ploughing. Tho ground was manured with four tons of Wando fertil? izer, and, it is estimated, will yield twelve bales of ootton, six of which have already been received by Messrs. Reeder ?fe Davis, faotors, of this oity. In addi? tion to the cotton, the young lady will make an abundance of oom, peas and potatoes, and enough sugar and syrup to last her for three years. Sho is only nineteen years of age, and this is her first attempt to make a crop. She nevertheless affords an example which many young men, and middle-aged ones too, will do well to fellow. HA tug-boat, named "Gen. Grant," sank in the Fenobsoot at Bangor, Thurs? day last, about two feet of her smoke? stack remaining above the surface. The other Gen.
