It is stated tbat the Spanish war vessels have strict orders to seize and sink the American steamers Virginias and Edgar Stewart wherever they may be found outside of neutral ports. Thus, if tho Virginias were to leave Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, where she bas taken tempo? rary refuge, she would be pounced upon and destroyed at once by the Spanish war steamers Arapides and Pizarro, which are lying in wait for her at that port. The instructions of the Spanish naval commanders, it is said, admit of a wide construction, and the Virginlus is liable to capture as soon as oat of the reach of the guns of the Venezuelan fort. The commanders of the Spanish war vesBola are only so far limited in their instructions os to avoid armed con? flict with neutral powers. This may save the Edgar Stewart, wbioh is at pre? sent considered in the special oustody of the United States authorities, and is at present in possession of tho United States Consul at Aspinwall. Everybody baa heard of the dissen? tient juror who swore be "never met eleven snoh d-d obstinate fools in his life before." The New ?ork World ex? presses itself very much ia the same way abont the Democracy when it says that "a blind, unreflecting majority of the people look with favor on Mr. Greeley, but they are stumbling ioto the greatest mistake ever made by sane men." The World may rest assured that this "blind, unreflecting majority" are not so blind they cannot see where tho road it is traveling ends, and not HO unreflecting as not to appreciate its motives for pursuing it.-Courier-Journal.
