THE GIPSY DANCE.-David Andes thus describes a strolling band of gip? sies, who made their way to Madrid from their Bavory haunts afar among tho j orange groves and Moorish mina of An? dalusia. They have pitched their tents jost outside of the Aroh of Carlos III, in the vioiuity of the bull-shambles, and are fixed for at least and at most a fort? night. They came to town with one eye to business, the other to thieving. But very pioturesque and comely are they here and everywhere, tinging and dancing and sitting among rooks. There are men and wu mon-ohildren in plenty, too, but they are left at home, wherever they may be. The men are habited in brooks, shirts, jackets, leg? gings, sashes and round porkpie hats, all of brilliant tints; the women kirtles, waists, gay shawls, and showy stocking!!, with their black, glossy tresses thrown I back and deoked with a bright ribbon or flower. The men have guitars and mandolins, the women castanets, which they rattle bravely. They are about to tread the mazy measures of the dance in concert. Away starts the music of gui? tar and castanet. Quick as lightning, the women, brown and beautiful, catch up their skirts between thumd and fore? finger and bonnd into a waltzing notion sideways without turning. Those of the men who have not instruments, caught by the infeotion, spring forward and join the women in the same wild movement. Olang go the guiturs and mandolins, oliok the castanets. Sway? ing, stooping, gracefully keeping time with head and body, twisting, ogling, making at each other, gliding coquettish? ly ont of roach, whirling, dodging, now gently, now fiercely, with here hate, there'fondness, and always tho delioions rhythm of motion and musio in it, those wild, handsome people personato tho | terrible Tarantula, the spider dance, full of subtle poison to the sense. A correspondent of the Chicago Tunes states that poison from tho bite of a mad dog can be eradicated from the system by vapor baths. Ho quotes from an art icio printed in a Paris medical journal by Dr. Buisson, a celebrated French surgeon, who says: "If the dis? order has declared itself, proscribo a single bath, and leave tho putiont in un? til a cure is effected. Hydrophobia may last three days. Exp er ic D CC has proved to me that a cure is certain on the first day of the outbreak, on the second doy doubtful, and on the third hopeless, on account of the difficulty of conveying tho patient to the bath, and keeping him in. And as hydrophobia never breaks out before the seventh day, there is time to perform a long journey to obtain a bath." Henry Wilson is entitled to the credit of the last great political discovery. He said, in a recent speech, that "Grant does not seek the Presidency; the office seeks him." Wo advise Mr. Wilson to repeat that assertion to the marines. Grant declares that he will never lift a finger to secure his re-nomination. Possibly he won't, bnt he lifts every office-holder who doesn't lubor to secure it. Wood! Wood!! Wood!!! .
