LONDON, April 4.-Disraeli addressed I
an immense Conservative meeting. He
said: "We have assembled hereto pro?
claim our resolution to uphold the Con?
stitution of the kingdom. We have
come together to talk of a programme
for fntnre notion, which will not despoil
the churches nor plunder the landlords,
but further the interests of the great
body of tho people."
The C?BO of Minor, tho Anio cloon who
murdered a laboring man, at Lambeth's,
waa before the court to day. The room
waa crowded, and there was much ex?
citement. Counsel for the prosecution
thonght the prisoner insane, and that
the jury should so dud. After hearing
the evidence, tho jury, on ablief consi?
deration, returned u verdict of not
guilty, because insane.
THE HAGUE, April 4.-The celebration
of independence was attended with dis?
orders and breaches of the peace at va?
rious points. Tho most considerable
disturbances occurred at Ostorhont, in
North Brabant, whore the mob collected 1
and broke the windows of houses, and
committed other outrages. The demon?
strations became so threatening, that |
the town authorities found it necessary
to odll upon the military to suppress tho
riot. Upon the appearance of the
troops, the mob dispersed; bnt several
persons bad been seriously injured be?
fore quiet was restored. Tho cause of
the outbreak is supposed to be dissatis?
faction with the Ministry.
BBUSSEI?S, April 4.-Tho rinderpest
has wholly disappeared from Belgium.

fraught with the utmost danger to Eng?
land. Earl Derby and other prominent
gentlemen followed in speeches of simi?
lar political import.
The strike of tho London composi?
tors was successful. Their demands for
an increase of wages and the limitation
of a day's work to nine hours have been
conceded by 142 firms.

done her bost to settle those differences,
and set a good example to tho world.

INDIANAPOLIS, April 4.-In tho State

when the question of a separate ticket
was carried, whereupon a full State

and Means Committee decided upon a
uniform tobacco tax, at twenty cents,
and a consolidated whiskey tax, at sixty
five conta.
DeLarge vs. Bowen, from South Ca?
rolina, was argued this morning, on a
motion to dismiss, upon the ground of
Bowen having accepted a State office.
Mr. Hoar, of tho committee, said it was
a novel and very important question.
Tho question is against Bowen, and its
decision does not confirm DeLarge in
bia seat.
In tho House, resolutions in honor of
Morse were adopted. The steamboat
bill was up.
NEV/ YORK, April 4.-Horace Greeley
says, in to-day's Tribune: "To all who
would fill our columns with their notions
of what ought to be done at tho Cincin?
nati Convention, wo say, send delegates
that will present your views to tho
convention, or go yourself and sub?
mit them." Ho reiterates that hoi
doesn't seek or desire any utteranco
from tho Cincinnati Convention in
favor of protection, and says that
he doubts not that the convontion
will recognize a rulo allowing each sup?

economic questions as he thinks fit.
One of tho foremost Republicana of
New York, Isaac Sherman, he says, de?

vance on this city, leaving only u small
garrison on guard at Camargo.
Tho Matamoras authorities captured
over 100 head of stolen cattle, which had
been crossed into Mexico, und caught
six of the thieves, who were lodged in
jail hero. This is the second raid on
cattlo thieves by the authorities here,
who aro very soddenly aroused to a seui-e
of their duty, in consequence cf tho
action of Congress. Eight prisoners
captured from the revolutionists reached
here to-day.
