be capable of receiving, on deposit, from
any person or persons disposed to ob?
tain and enjoy ita advantages, ull sums
of money that may be offered for that
purpose; and, on receipt of uuy deposit,
it shall. deliver to the depositor a book

sited.
SEO. 3. That all deposits of money re?
ceived by the said corporation may bo
invested in any publio stock or bonds,
oreated by virtue of any law of this
State, or any ordinanoe of lim city of
Charleston, orin the capital stock of any
bank within this Stute, or in United
States bonds or stock, or bonds or stock
ol any city or State in the United States,
or in tho stocks or honda of uuy railroad
company incorporated in this or any
other State, or loaned on promissory
notes, secured by pledge of such mocks,
at not more than BO ven ty-tl ve per centum
of their par value, or on bonds secured
by mortgage of real estate, "lying und
being within the Parishes of St. Philip
and St. Michael, in tho County of
.Charleston; and the income uud profit
thereof shall he applied and divided
among the persons making the suid de?

as may be necessary for expenses, in

corporation, withdraw and forever dis
suive his connection with the same.
SEO. 5. That the said corporation may
have a common seul, which they may
change and renew ut pleasure; and that
all deeds, uonveynuoes und grants, cove?
nants and agreemouts made by their
Treasurer, or any other person, by their
authority and direction, according to
tholr rules, shall be good und valid; and
the corporation shall, ut nil times, have
power lo sue and he sued, and may de?
fend, and shall be held to answer hy tho

estate as may bo deemed desirable for
