Beit enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives cf the State of South Carolina, now mel and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That tho members of said So? ciety be, and aro hereby, declarad to bo a body corporate, by the name and style of the Springfield Baptist Church, und by that name and style shall have a BUC oession of officers and members, and shall have a oommon seal. SEO. 2. That the said corporation shall have power to purchase, receive aad held any real or personal estate, not exceeding in value fifty thousand dollars, and to sell, convey and dispose of the same; and by its corporate uume may sae and bo sued, in any court of oompo ?ont jurisdiction in this State; and make such rales and by-laws, not repugnant to the laws thereof, as they may deem necessary and expedient. Davis, a citizen of Williamsburg County, is the father of an illegitimate child, n boy, now going by the name of Wm. Nathaniel Martin; and whereas, said Wm. B. Davis is d?? sirons of having the name of said child ohanged to that of Wm. Nathaniel Davis, and to have conferred upon him all the rights of legitimacy; therefore, SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Slate of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority ot the same, That the name of the Baid Wm. Nathaniel Martin Le ohanged to that ol Wm. Nathaniel Davis. SEC. 2. That all rights of legitimacy are hereby conferred upon the said Wm N. Be it enacted by Ihe Senate and Houst of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in Genera Assembly, and by the authority of th same, That from and after the passag? of this Act, that the ferry over the Com bahee Hiver (known as the Oombahe< Ferry) be, and the same is hereby, re ahartered, and vested in Arthur Middle ton, bis heirs and assigne, for a term ol fourteen years, with the following rut? of toll: For eaoh man and horse, tei cents; for eaoh horse, led, five cents; foi each foot passenger, five cents; for oaol wagon, drawn by four horses, seventy five cents; for each wagon aud carriage drawn by two horses, fifty cents; fe eaoh wagon, drawn hy one horse, twen ty-five cents; for euch gig or Bulky twenty-five cents; for onoh cart uni horso, twenty-five cents; for each hea< of cattle, five couts; for each hog, Bue?] or gout, throo cents; for long or doubl ferriage, double the amount of the ubov rates: Provided, That the said Ar thu Middleton, his heirs or assigns, sha! keep one or more good, substantial ferr; boats, together with a suitable ropo o chain, or such other contrivance as wil insure safo nod prompt transportutioi across said stream: Provided, further That childrou going to and returnin from school, and voters going to and rc taming from tho polls, ou eluctiou d-* shall bo passed, free of churgo, over sui ferry.
