Be il furtlier maded, That, be? fore oommenoing business uudor tho provisions of this Act, said firm shall pay, br'oause to be paid, into the hands of the State Superintendent of Educa? tion, the. sum of one thousand dollars, ($1,000,) to bo used for the benefit of the free schools of South Carolina, and annually thereafter a like amount, fdr1 the term of ten years, or so long as said partnership shall choose to do business, it being understood and agreed that said payment pf one thousand dollars per annum by said association is the consid? eration upon which the privilege of in? corporation herein is granted; and when ey,er said company, or firm, or associa tion, shall fail to pay said consid?r?t ion, then their right to transact business shall cease.
