A resolution declaring that the late elections showed that tho people favor u lower tariff, and directing tho Com? mittee of Ways and Means to prepare a bill reducing tho duty on ton, coffee and sugar to 15 per cent, ad valor um, and to construct a general bill for such purposes only, was referred to tho Com? mittee of Ways and Means. A revision of postage laws oconpied the balance of the day. AUGUSTA, December 7.-Tho municipal election took plaoe to-day, and passed off quietly. The Democrats elect tho Mayor by about 800 majority, with a full Council. Troops wore sent from At? lanta and stationed near the polls, but did not interfere with tho election. There is great rejoicing and illuminations to-night. MOBILE, December 7.-Tho election for Mayor, Councilmen and Aldermen passed off quietly. The greatest enthu? siasm prevailed. Business was partially suspended. Martin Horst, an old and much respected citizen and a Democrat, was elected hy about 1,500 majority defeating Harrington, the Radical car pot-bag candidate, who was appointed by Smith, the Governor. RALEIGH, N. C., December 7.-It is confidently expected that within two days, a resolution will pass the House, scuding a messenger to tho bnr of the Senate, to demand the impeachment of Governor Holden. BUFFALO, December 7.-The third ses? sion of tho National Board of Trade convened to-day. Sixty members are in attendance. Baltimore, Charleston and St. Louis are repicsented. To-day, in joint convention for election of Senator, Goldthwaite (Democrat) was I elected. Goldthwaite has been a Judge of the Circuit and Supreme Courts; is an able lawyer, and citizen of Montgomery for over forty years. The people aro greatly rejoiced. This morning, in tho Circuit Court, Judgo Smith (Republican) summoned W. H.
