LIVERPOOL, July 2.-Tho tide of emi?
gration ?ontinues unabated. 18,000 omi
frants left this port during the month of
uno for various American ports. Nine
tenths went to New York. ,
HAVANA, July 2.-A meeting of plan?
ters and wealthy slave-owners was held
at the Governor-General's palace last
night. The parties were unanimous iu
their approval of abolition of slavery by
the Cortos of the mother country and in
their disposition to obey the laws, but
request that they may bo consulted as
to the manner of oarrying out the law, so
as to prevent negroes from becoming
vagrants, and also to organize a Rystem
by which agricultural interests will bo
maintained. Slaves will remain witb
their present masters, but will be placed
nuder contract, and will receive the
same pay for their services as is paid to
freedmen.
There are about tho usual number of
cholera cases daily. There were seven
deaths yesterday. There is no percepti?
ble inorease in deaths from vomito. Tho
small-pox is quite prevalent.
HOME, July 4.-The Counoil adopted
a prefaoe and the first two chapters of
the infallibility soheme. The partisans
of extreme infallibility refuse auy at?
tractions and demand an immediate
vote. The Bishops aro fast leaving, aud
it is thought the final vote will be taken
by the 10th.
LONDON, July 5.-The steamer Robert
Lo wo sailed yesterday from here, with
an apparatus on board for repairing the
Atlantic, cable near Heart's Content, and
the French cable between St. Pierre and
Duxbury. This steamer has just been
built by the Atlantic Cabio Companies,
and is fitted with the most approved ap?
pliances. She will bo stationed perma?
nently on the American sido, in readiness
for contingencies.
MADRID, July 5.-Tho Government
authorities to-day officially deny having
made any but confidential overtures to a
foreign' Princo.
MADRID, July 5.-It waa announced
to-day that tho Prince of Hohenzollern
has accepted the oller of the Spanish
throne. The council will immediately
take the matter under discussion.

CHEYENNE, July 2.-A letter from the
South Poss says "on June 25th tho In?
dians stole from that vicinity ninety
eight head of horses and mules. The
citizens pursued thom, bnt all their horses
being gono, could not retake the stock.
They found the bodies of Dr. Bard,
Harvey Morgan and Mr. Mason, who
were oaptured and tortured to death."
NEW YOBK, July 3.-Michael Madden,
an Irishman, aged fifty, died this even?
ing, at 408 West Thirty-eighth street; it
is supposed from the effects of a beating
by his wife.
MONTGOMERY, July 4.-The day was
observed by tho closing of stores, banks,
.fcc A Republican meeting which had
been advertised for several weeks was
held. A row took place over tho dinner,
in which several negroes were cut aud
shot, some dangerously, all of the same
party.
ST. LOUIS, July 4.-Tho stoamer Gen?
eral Leo arrived at 11.25 a. m.-making
the run from New Orleans in three
days, eighteen hours and fourteen
minutes-beating tho time of the Natchez
on her last trip three hours and forty
four minutes, and the James M. White's
famous time about five hours. The
Natchez was detained by a heavy fog 120
miles below and hud not arrived at G
p. m. Si,000,000 has changed bauds on
the result; thousands of peoplo were out
to witness the arrival. Tho race bas been
oomplete ovation from first to last.

Kentucky contested election case of
Barns vs. Adams-tho report being in
favor of Adams, the sitting member, who
is a Democrat.
In the House, Palmer, from Special
Committee, made a minority report,
accompanied by a bill, to establish a
postal telegraph company. After a three
hours' discussion, the report of the elec?
tion committee, declaring Adams, the
sitting member from Kentucky, entitled
to his 6eat, was agreed to without a divi?
sion. A resolution was passed, giving
his oontestent 85,OOO for expenses. After
a two hours' discussion the Virginia case
of Tucker against Booker, was reported
iu favor of Booker. The whole subject
was tabled- 99 to 24. Adjourned.

ST. LOUIS, July 5.-Capt. Leathers, of
the steamer Natchez, says that, deduct?
ing six hours laid np by fog, and thirty
six minutes lost repairing a pump below
Helena, the Natchez beat Lee's line some
twenty minutes. A bauquet to both
captains will bo giveu at tho Southern
Hotel to-night.
RICHMOND, July 5.-Judge Guigan,
to-day, decided in tho coutested city
election that the matter of illegal and
fraudulent votes can't be gone into.
Had this matter been opened tho legnl
proceeding would have oxtended beyond
the term for which tho city officers nro
elected. The Republicans claim that
this decision, in effect, gives tho city
affairs to their candidates. The conser?
vatives still contest the caso on the ground
of informality in eleotion.
JACKSON, MISS., July 5.-Tho Fourth
was a failuro hero. A serious affray oe
curred, to-day. at Wesson, fifty miles
South from here, between the hincks
and whites. It was caused by the abuse
of a whito boy by negroes. The negroes
fired into the whites, wouuding two. Tho
firo was returued, killing three negroes
instantly.
