MADRID, Jane 2.-The adherents of
Espartero have issued a circular favoring
his election to the throne. Despatches
from DeBodas inform the Government
that the insurgent Generals propose to
surrender, on the condition that their
lives and property be spared. DeBodas
asks instructions. The Government re?
plies that insurgent officers sincerely de?
siring to give up the contest and become
reconciled to Spain, will be dealt with
generously. The Cortos will commence
discussing the occupant for the throne
on Monday. Partisans of Montpensicr
are very zealous, and have great hopos,
bnt the Bepublican journals aro bitter
against him, declaring that the country
io in danger when such a name is men?
tioned in connection with the crown,
and urge unrelenting war against the
Frenchman, as they term him. As
the day for debate approaches, agitation
deepens.
LONDON, June 2.-Despatches to-day
report a fearful outbreak of cholera in

daunt's continued insanity precludes

WASHINGTON, June 3.-This morning's
Republican says the iron-clad fleet lying
opposite New Orleans has been ordered
to prepare for sea, and its destination
is supposed to be Key West. This looks
ominous, considering the proximity of
Key West to tho "ever-faithful isle."
In view of the reported outrages upon
the Jews in Boumanin, Adolpe B?chner,
an Israelite, hus been appointed Consul
General at Bucharest.
3 P. M.-In the House, further peti?
tions in favor of equal tobacco taxation,
were presented. A bill was passed, al?
lowing appeals from Probate to Supreme
Courts of Territories. The House con?
curred in amendments by tho Senate to
the deficiency bill. Amendments in?
creasing appropriations 31,500,000, goes
to the President. Taxation was resumed.
Butler rose to report tho Georgia bill,
which the Speaker decided not in order.
Butler moved to set aside the tax bill;
negatived. Proceedings by ayes and
nays, in various amendments to tho tax
bill, are progressing. Tho Beconstruc
tion Committee, last night, heard May?
nard and Stokes at great length. The
Tennessoo investigation closed. Somo
Congressional action will bo recom?

nesty question was not considered. The
Georgia bill, which Butler endeavored to
report, is the bill heretofore agreed upon.
Georgia was not discussed last night in
Committee; fourteen members of tho

be held. It is feared by some leaders of
tho party that a disposition is shown by
the negroes to monopolize all offices iu
