Tho Senate passed a joint resolution turning over to New Orleans the barracks, buildings and grounds. In the Houso, the Speaker announced on the Committee of Conference regard? ing wrecked and abandoned property, Butler, of Massachusetts, Peters aud Archer. Tho conference report enforc? ing the fifteenth amendment was re? sumed and passed by a strict party vote. A bill reducing taxation was introduced; it covers eighty-six pages. Pending the reading of the bill, the House adjourned. In the Sonate, a bill improving water communication between Mississippi and Dake Miohigan via Wisconsin and F ox Rivers, was referred to tho Committee on Commerce. Tho appropriation bill was resumed. An amendment allowing women and men like pay for like work, was adopted. $100,000 were appropriated for tho discovery of the North Polo. Salaries of tho Circuit Court Judges were increased to $7,500. The .Senate is in session to-night. The Senate adjourns to Tuesday. Alexandria, Vu., has elected a con? servative ticket. Boutwell has abolished the Cartage Bureau of tho New York Custom House. Internal revenue receipts to-day over $1,000,000. Tho Cuban Colonel Drako DeKuy is here. All executive departments will bo closed on Monday, Gold in the Treasury $107,000,000; currency $10,750,000. TORONTO, May 27.-Matters in tho neighborhood of Huntington, this morn? ing, are assuming a good deal of interest. General Gleason is in command of tho Fenians, who aro well armed. The Ca? nadian fores are assembling, and activo preparations aro going ou for a fight. The troops have also been ordered back to Pigeon Hill, in-anticipation of a fight there. A small force of Fenians also ap poured at Island Pond. All quiet on tho Niagara and Detroit frontiers. A second despatch, dated at 10 a. ni., says the Fenians near Trout River and Hunting? ton commenced the attack this morning, hut were rapidly driven back across the lines, shortly after firing commenced, leaving their wounded behind. General Gleason went back to New York in dis? gust. General Starn is assuming charge. ST. AiiUANs, May 27.-A few Fenians have left for home; the rest ara provided with food by TJnitod States Marshal F os? ter and tho village authorities. The presence of the United States troops keeps tho Fenians quiet. A number ure kept in the depot, the rest out of doors. Tho privates have no money, aud tho officers but little. Some claim that General O'Neill has S200.000 of Feniau funds in his possession. RICHMOND, May 27.-Tho Republican majority for their city ticket, here, will be about 300, despite a driving rain which has been falling all day. The Republicans held a meeting in front of tho Custom House this after noon. There was much enthusiasm. This morning as the ballot in Jefferson Ward was being taken to tho City Hall, tho bearer was assailed on the street and the box broken, and tho ballots scattered. Tho ballots had been counted, and it will make no difference in the vote. NEW ORLEANS, May 27.-John Bazar, sentenced to bo hanged to-day, for tho murder of Cobez, was reprieved by the Governor. Nelson S. Andrews, of Cambridgeport, Mass., committed suicide at tho St. Charles Hotel, by shooting himself in tho head.
