Tbe Guards held their ground, though a number were wounded. The Prefect, Commanding General and Procurer came to their relief with a detachment of regu? lar troops, when the mob was dispersed and order restored. To-day, the Prefect and General held review, at which they thanked,the troops and National Guard for cansiug the laws to be respected. Tho Journal Officiel denounces tho tac? tics of the revolutionary journals, in seeking* to make their readers believe there has been no conspiracy, and de? clares it tho duty of the Government to warn the public against tho effect of such electoral tricks. Tho Journal adds that the conspiracy is part of lust win? ter, investigation into which has been BO protracted. When they aro terminated, and they soon will bo, the public will know all and be able to appreciato the danger in which the country bas been placed.
