Having occa? sion to leave the dear creature, he inad? vertently forgot to go through the trifling formality of kissing her good-bye. This the high-spirited and romantic bride con? strued into a deadly iusult, a deliberate slight; and no sooner was her new lord out of the house than she sold out every? thing and sought revenge and consola? tion in an appication for a divorce. The horror-stricken groom, upon learning this, sought un interview-explained that there was nothing "personal" in his not kissing bergood-by-uo offence intended -and they wore once more locked in each other's arms in paroxysms of mu? tual forgiveness and vows of eternal de? votion. The lady patrons of the New York Fonndling Asylum met Inst week to hear reports. Tho books were duly balanoed. and the assets of the first month, 285 babies, duly exhibited. Business was reported brisk, and tho crop increasing. From ali accounts, this promises to be? come one of the most inconveniently flourishing institutions ever established. Prof. B., the eminent electrician, was traveling lately in the cars, when a mun came np and asked him for his fure. "Who are yon?" said B. "I? my name is Wood; lam a conductor."
