Gold is fouud in twenty-five Counties of tho State, besides other valuable metals. Tho civil war in Japan, it is stated, has created an extensivo demand in that country for fire-arms of all kinds. French., English and American rifles find a ready sale; but the American Springfield, known also as tho En? field rifle, is said to be preferred.
