The Corruption Committee's inves? tigations under Butler and Logan, who alone of the aoven aro present, are inking alarmingly wide range. Nothing authentic beyond the gossip of witnesses, but onough has trans? pired to create a genoral scare among politicians. The distrust of Butler is increasing. An early discharge of the Committee from further investi? gation is probable. The City Council aro organizing in secret but stormy session. A row of some kind occurred inside, causing some half dozen policemen to ob? trude on the secrecy of tho session by jumping iuto the windows. It is impossiblo to obtain tho details of the trouble. The registrar of elections on the oaths of Judges that illegal votes were cast in tho fifth ward, gave cer? tificate to tho radicals, giving a ma? jority to that party. Mayor Wallach gave certificates to tho Democrats. Each party elected presiding officers of each Board, aud when the Coun? cil met, in joiut session, two Presi? dents were present. Amid intense excitement, the radical President de? clared Bowen elected, and he was sworn in under tho noisy protest of the conservatives, President, and members. Wallach lins lucked tho Mayor's Office, and matters are pro? gressing very noisily. lu the Senate, the Pensions Com? mittee reported adversely on the bill providing that marriage sholl not for? feit the widows' pension. A joint resolution, removing tho Harper's Ferry suit from JeiFerson County, Virginia, to 4he United States Circuit Court, passod. Willey maintained that it was impossible to obtain a fair trial at Jefferson, on account of the hostiUty of the people to tho United States. The omnibus admission bill was resumed, and an amendment re? storing Alabama to the list, was dis? cussed all day without taking a vote. Adjourned. In the House, the Judiciary Com? mittee was directed to inquire why Mr. Davis' trial was delayed. A bill appropriating money for the capture of Mr. Davis was referred to tho Appropriation Committee. A bill for inaugurating South or tx State offi? cers and convening Southern Legis? latures, was referred to tho Recon? struction Committee. A bill taxing United States bonds for national purposes was considered, and, on motion to table, lost-15 to 100 ; afterwards referred to tho the Com? mittee of Ways and Means-88 to 34. A resolution to receive the Chinese embassy at ll o'clock to-morrow was adopted. The Conference Committee reported the admission of Arkansas, which was adopted. Having been adopted by both Houses, tho bill goes to tho President. Adjourned. RICHMOND, June 8.-Chief Justice Chase, in a caso to-day, charged the jury, to tho effect that all bonds, drafts, notes, &c., drawn during the war in tho rebel States, payable in the loyal States aro illegal and can? not be recovered at law.
