In the Senate, a memorial from the California Mechanics' Association, also, 3,000 citizens of tho North and West, for eight hours' work in Go? vernment shops, wns presented. Thc omnibus bill was then takeu up. Trumbull explained why Alabama was erased. Regarding Florida, which .was added, Trumbull said: Meade reported a majority of 5,050 for the Constitution. Wilson moved to insert Alabamu. Sherman and Steward favored the amendment. Morton favored the early admission of Alabama, but foarcd its insertion would jeopardize the whole bill, and said he would voto against tho amend? ment, but would favor a separate bill for Alabama's immediate admission. Wilson denounced the provision un? der which Alabama voted in harsh terms. Quito a harsh debate arose among the Republicans who had fa? vored the clause requiring a majority of the registered voters to ratify the Constitutions. Without action, the Senate went into oxeoutive session, and adjourned. In the House, tho tax bill was re? sumed and discussed until adjourn? ment. WORCESTER, MASS., Juno 5.-The riotous demonstrations of the shoe? makers on a strike was suppressed by the constables. LANCASTER, PENN., Juno 5.-Mr. Buchanan's funeral was very impos? ing. There were many delegations from t abroad. The Masons assisted throughout, and their funeral cere? monies accompanied the religious rites. Ou Saturday, previous to his decease, while giving directions to his executor regarding his funeral, Mr. Buchanan said: "The principles of the Christian religion wero in? stilled into my mind from ray youth, and from all I have observed and experienced in the long life that Pro? vidence has vouch ?af od to me, I have only become more strengthened in my conviction of the divine character of the Saviour and the power of atonement through.
