BAI?TIMORE, April 20.-Sergeant Bates was honored with a festival to? day, and was enthusiastically re? ceived. The ceremonies at the Wash? ington Monument wero beautiful. Bates was loaded with presents from the ladies and citizens. AUGUSTA, GA., April 20.-The elec? tion is proceeding quietly throughout tho State. lu Marietta, 180 colored men formed in procession and voted for the Democratic candidate. Many colored voters are intimidated by the Leaguers. In Savannah, a conserva? tive colored man was so beset that a military and police guard was neces? sary to protect him. The radicals are disheartened in Columbus, as many colored men are voting with the conservatives; the Leaguers bur3ted up Saturday night. In Ma? con, the radicals havo it pretty much their own wey. WASHINGTON, April 20.-The im? peachment managers are introducing documentary evidence. Blodgett's indictment offered. Bntler offered Blodgett's auswer. Evarts objected, aa Blodgett was not on trial here. Butler proceeded to state orally what he intended to prove. Chase ordered it to be reduced to writing. Butler protested; Chase persisted and Butler is now writing. The close of impeachment is not expected before the middle of next Week. Stanbery is much better. Impeachrneut continued. The Se? nate refused to admit Blodgett's papers. Butler appealing for Blod? gett, said ho had never been able to get his case before the Senate. Jus? tice should be done him now-ho was only a Otptaiu of a rebel militia company, and au unwilling Captain. The Senate then went into executive session, and adjourned to Wednesday. In the House, the' Senate appro? priation for impeachment was con? sidered. Eldridge said it. was evident $10,000 would not defray expenses of tho impeachment, aud tie thought this was a mero blind. Washburuo believed that if impeachment was a success, it would be worth $ 1*0,000, . 000 to tho country, by tho removal of the uuirper and tyrant.
