Yesterday, immediately after the ad? journment of tlie Convention, but before tba members had ?eft the ball, E. W. M. Mackey, a son of Dr. A. G. Mackey, and delegate from Orangeburg District, approached Mr. Roswell T. Logan, the reporter of the Charleston Mercury, who was in conversation with another mem? ber of the prosy, and inquired whether he woe the writer of the article concerning his father, which appeared in the Mercury of yester? day, and receiving an affirmative re? sponse, immediately .struck him in the face. Mr. Logan threw up one of his arms os u fence and struck, but was seized by the persons nearest him. In this position he was struck 'at again by Mackey, but we believe the blows, one or two ia number, failed to take effect, and he also was seized and held back by some of his - friends. The incident occasioned great excitement among the dele . ?rates, but no farther violence was j offered Mr. Logan. [Charleston Courier, January 28. ANOTHER COUNTRY STORE BURNT. We ore informed that the Btore of Mr. John Brock, at Wright's Bluff, was burnt* on Friday night, by some unknown incendiaries. The negroes in that section of the country are represented as being quito demoral? ized, and waiting for the Convention, which body they expect will pass some ordinnnoe that will relieve them from the necessity of work. [Charleston News. ANOTHER MURDER IN DARLINGTON DISTRICT.-We have received infor? mation of a fatal affray which oc? curred in Darlington District, near Lynch's Creek, and about sixteen miles from the Court House. A ?oung man named Kelley, a son of Ir. Robert Kelley, of that place, had a qnurrel, ou the 22d inst., with a negro, name unknown. Tho negro was stabbed in the encounter and has since died. Mr. John Charles Kean, the re? nowned tragedian, died on Thursday, in London, in tho fifty-seventh year of his age. Deceased was the son of the great bnt or ni tic genius, Edmund Kean, and was born at Waterford, England, on tho 18th of January, 1811. Rev. J. 1\ Morris, of tho South Carolina Conferonce, died suddenly in Darlington Court House, on Fri? day last. The deceased was a native of Canada, but had recently joined the Conference". A two-story brick house iu Madi? son street, Brooklyn, fell to tho ground on tho 24th, while the family was inside. Strange to say, no one ?as hurt. FATAL ACCIDENT.-A young man camed Strobel, was accidentally killed at Blackville, on Saturday afternoon, while running an tinnily horse.
