H olino us OF YELLOW FEVEK.-The Houston (Texas) Telegraph says: "We have witnessed a number of epidemics within the last twenty years, have been cognizant of many sad scenes caused by ravages of the pes? tilence, but we have never known anything of the sort BO sad as the destruction which the yellow fever, during the late prevalence of tho epidemic, has wrought in tho family and kindred of Col. J. J. Dia? mond, chief proprietor and editor of the Journal, of this oity. There were two families-first, that of Col. J. J. Diamond, and that of Col. W.. W. Diamond, his brother. lu addition, there was a large family of orphaned children of deceased brothers in Georgia, who had come to Col. Dia? mond for protection. Both the Cols. Diamond havo died, and also twelve of the above mentioned kindred, making fourteen in all. Merciful Heaven, what a destruction in one family!" A young lady, residing near Prince? ton, Ky., in Novembur last, while under the inflenco of religions ex? citement, fell into a state of apparent unconsciousunss, which lusted for live days. On her recovery, she professed to havo passed into tho other world, and seen both the glories of Heaven and the horrors of tho pit. She also predicted that three youug men of her acquaintance would die before the close of the year, and strange to say, although theu iu perfect health, neither of them nro now living. A IlEMAilKABLE INVENTION.-It is stated that a German glass maker has lately made a remarkable discovery. He has invented a telescope, or mag? nifying glass, by menus of which tho most intricate nerves and vessels in? side of Hie body mny be seen from thc outside.
