At twelve o'clock last Friday night a fight took place at Flynn's porter? house, in Spring street, New York, between Patsey Evans and Luke Murphy for $100. Twenty-four rounds were fought with varied suc? cesses, about equal punishment hav? ing been given and received by either party. The Herald says: Round twenty-four and hist was the best contested of tho battle, both men fighting with extraordinary spirit. Murphy fell from a terrible blow upon the chest, and when down his second claimed that a foul blow, had been struck by Evans. Tho claim of foul was put in but not al? lowed, the referee deciding against the claim. At this moment, tho in? formation was received that the fight was discovered, and that a raid was meditated by the police, whereupon the referee decided thc fight a draw, and the parties hastily departed. Both parties were considerably puuished, Trans' peepers being quite closed. Evans stands six feet two inches in height, and weighs two hundred pounds avoirdupois. His antagonist, tho "Unknown," from Quebec, stands six feet two and a half iuches in height, and weighs ouc hundred and ninety-eight pounds. Both parties will immediately go into training for the impending contest, which, from the exhibition of Evans' gameness in this last mill, will pro bably prove a closely contested bat? tle. Tue speeches against the object of the memorial were on tho principio that it would be wrong to remove tho weight of taxation from tho staple article of tho South, while few, if any, of the products of Northern industry escaped the heavy burden of which the advocates of the memorial complained. MARRIED BY ACCIDENT.-Last even? ing Edward Thayer and Miss Hellen P. Jelliniau, attended by Mr. Austin Humphrey and Annie E. Crause, went to St. Paul's Church, the former couple to get married, and the latter to act tis groomsman and bridesmaid. They all stood up before tho altar, and the officiating clergyman, the Kev.
