A Richmond correspondent of the Now York Tribune writes: "Some are of the belief there will be no trial, and that Davis will either be includ? ed in the forth-coming amnesty, or ho will be pardoned specially by the President. From an an then tic source I have reason to state that Davis will be tried at the November term of the United States Circuit here, and he will be forth-coming at that time. The counsel for the defence will de? clare themselves ready for trial. The Court will signify its assent in tho same manner. The Government will ask for time, under the pretence of being unprepared-a shift to get out of the trial. The Court will then say it will be in session for a consi? derable period, which will afford the Government ample time to prepare, and if its representative^} foil to pro? secute tho prisoner beforo tho term of tho Court expires, it will in that case probably declaro the prisoner discharged, in the absence of tho prosecution. Suoh will most pro? bably be the programme of the long expected Davis trial, and such the upshot of it in case of the failure of tho Government to substantiate its charges. Tho country will then be rid of a serious iocumbrance. A Knoxville dentist got a whipping iu the street, the other day, for an alleged iusult to a lady patient. The assailant was tho lady's betrothed. Ho was arrested, and fined for tho assault, and the law was satisfied by spontaneous greenbacks from Bpec taJbKx in the court room. Tho den 'irsx explained that it was sometimes necessary to put his arms around the necks of his patients when work? ing on the teeth, but did not assert that it was necessary to squeeze their hands or talk love to them. His name is P. H.. Cardwell. The editor of the Louisiana Demo? crat saw, a few days ago, in Alex? andria, au old negro freedman, nt least oighty-five years old, with two large navy revolvers buckled to his waist, a pepper-box revolver in each breeches pocket, u huge sugar cane knife in his bosom, and u loaded walk? ing cane iu his right hand. He was a delegate to tho radical mongrel convention.il Upwards of 20,000 Cretan families, mostly women and children and old men, have been sent to Greece. Athens, Syria, and all other Grecian cities, have become so many huge relief committees. The Grecian In? dies particularly are indefatigable in charitable zeal, but cannot afford all the relief needed, without the as? sistance of Christian nations. Experiments are making in Eng? land with telegraph wires, insulated with an indestructible coating, and placed in a tube, which aro buried in tho ground. Tho experiments aro successful, and tho heavy costs of keeping wires in order which are hung on poles are done away with. "WE ARE COMINO, FATHER ABRA? HAM."-The Columbus Sun is in? formed upon good authority that Joseph Williams, on his recent speak? ing tour in Alabama, succeeded in converting some 3,000 negroes from radicalism to conservatism. Tho Boston Post says: "Tho steel of n hoop skirt, a gaiter, u fan, and a greaso spot were found on the side? walk of ono of our streets yesterday. It is supposed a lady unfortunately melted, and that theso were her re? mains." Dawes, a radical member of Con? gress from Massachusetts, has pub? licly howled, "tho conflict is not yet ended.
