The Nation suya that the negro popu? lation of the youth will have always to rely on its natural increase for its growth, while the population is swollen every year by nn enormous immigration. Let it appear that po? litical tranquility is onco restored to tho South, and wo may be sure that, slavery being gone, thc great and ad? vancing tide, which is now cuting, every your, further and farther iuto the heart of tho Western wilderness, will begin to steal very rapidly into the Southern forests, and to swamp tho black vote everywhere. There is not tho ghost of a chance that, in ten years, there will, in any Southern State, bc a black majority, and that tho ballot will bo of auy uso to the negro, except to defend tho fruits of his own toil. There is clangor, just now, that tho negro may bo led astra}', and that his education in ci? vilization may, by bad counsels, bc made bitterer and harder than it ueed be. A Nr.w TOY.-A correspondent writes: "Ono of tho now mechanical toys in Puris is a boat with a rower. This rower exactly imitates thc move? ment of areal man, and works a puh? oi sculls with great energy. I saw I one of them tho other day upon tho large basin of the Tuileries garden. Quito a crowd of persons wero staud ing round the basin, watching thc efforts of tho littlo fellow. At tinten he would seem to labor and bc fati? gued; at others ho would quicken his paco and put on rapid spurts l'or a short distance. The oars struck tho water with sorao force, for the boat was ablo to make considerable way even wheu going against a strong head-wind." BLACK VS. WHITE.-Tho Mobile Register says: We havo another instuuee of the superior justice and sense of a black over a white "nigger." A gentleman who has been voting in Mobile for twenty years, applied to register his name. Ho was refused by Hurter, the white registrar, because tho ap? plicant had not his naturalization papers. . The colored registrar interposed, and said, "I know you, Mr. Lyons, and I know you aro entitled to vote, and I will record your name." The beauty of it is that Hurter is himself a foreigner. Nor had he any right to refuse tho name of any citi? zen who was ready to take tho oath. FRESH LAGER JUST IN, at wholesale and on draught. Juno 10 J. C. SEEGEltS A CO. FRESH NO. 1 MACKEREL. Extract from a letter: "At thc close of the war, my constitution was shattered. I could not eat, sleep or perform any duty whatever, such was my prostrate condi? tion. THE QUEEN'S DELIGHT, the cr??t American Alterative ami Blood Puri? fier, is the mont perfect vegetable, com? pound of alteratives, tonics, diur?tica and diaphoretics; making it the most effective invigorating, rejuvenating and blood cleansing cordial known to the world. In introducing this new and extraordi? nary medicino to the public, observation leads tts to remark that too littlo attention is paid to thc "life of all tlesh," tho blood. Many diseases, and, too, many complaints, which have their origin in a vitiated state of tho blood, are treated only us symptoms and results; whereas, if tho remedy had been applied to enrich tho blood and ren? der it pure, both causo and effect would have been removed. Thc Queen's Delight is offered to tho nfllictcd as a sure remedy for those diseases arising from au impure condition of tho blood, lt has a direct and specilic action upon that fluid, and consequently renders tho blood pure. It is said, on high authority, that "man no sooner begins to live than ho begins to die, and that tho characteristics of tho living organism aro ceaseless chango and ceaseless waste." It is obvions, therefore, to every reflecting mind, that unless tho blood is puro, in supplying the waste tis? sues with material, it must be tho canso of innumerable ills and constitutional disor? ders, such as Scrofula, Rheumatism, He? patic Disorders. Consumption, Inflamma? tions, Fevers, Ac. Lifo and health is only to be maintained hythe circulation of purl art erial blood. Wo thercforo advise cverv ono whoso blood is in tho least vitiated hy indulgence or excess, and whoso constitution is im? paired hy disease and is suffering from Rheumatism, Liver Complaint, Consump? tion, Scrofula or King's Evil, Carbuncles, Boils, Itching Humor of thc Skin, Erysi? pelas, Skin Diseases. Tetter, Roughness of tho Skin, Pimples, Blotches, Lams in the Pones, old Ulcers, Syph :s and Syphilielic Sores, Indigestion, Inflammation of tho Bladder ami Sidneys, Pains in the Back, General Debility, and for all complaints arising from deficiency and poverty of blood, to tisc tho Queen's Delight. Females of delicate constitution, suffer? ing from weakness and depression of mind in consequence of those complaints which nature imposes nt Die period of chancre, have a pleasant and sure remedy in the Queen's Delight. Children whoso fair and ruddy complex? ion gave carly promise of health and beauty, hut too soon become blanched and pal?- by ^.'iue hereditary tuint of the blood, will have thc rich boon restored by using tho Queen's Delight. The tinacclimated and persona traveling into warm countries will lind tho Queen's Delight Sj great protection from all malari? ous affection rind diseases which originate in a change of climate, diet and life. The extraordinary and unprecedented cures performed by tho Queen's Delight Compound is attracting the attention ot every one, not only at home, but abroad. T?o> merits of this compound are being appreciated everywhere. Hear wh hoy say of it in New York: "lt is a ron ?f much importance and value, oxer? .g an influence over all tho secre? tions, which is unsurpassed by any other known alterative, lt ia extensively used hi all tho various forms of primary and secondary syphilitic affections; also, in scrofulous, hepatic and cutaneous disease s, in which its usc is followed by the most successful results." Its properties as a remedy were first in? troduced to the notice of the profession by Dr. Thoa. Young Simons, of South Carolina, as carly as 182H, as a valuable alterative re? medy iii syphilitic affections, and others re? quiring use of mercury. Dr. Simons' sta t nients have been endorsed and extend'id by Dr. A. Lopez, of Mobile, and Dr. H. R. Frost, of Charleston. From the reports in its favor, there seems no reason to doubt the efficacy of this medicine in Secondary Syphilis, Scrofula, Cutaneous Diseases, Chronic Hepatic Affections and other com? plaints benefited by alterative medicines.
