Tho Freedmen's Bureau will send them to any part of tho United States, aud tho Colonization Socioty will take them to Africa. At tho samo session, the Rev. Wm. 'Thomas said he was opposed to all co-operation with Northern religious bodies. Ho was afraid of them, aud all societies at the North. The Homo Mission was of all others tho most offensive to tho Baptists of Virginia, for it had avuilcd itself of military authority to take possession of Bap list churches iu Norfolk and Ports? mouth, to tho utter disregard of principles held sacred by all Baptist churches.-New York lierait/. Milton, a negro, filed a petition in the United States Court, at Louis? ville, on Thursday, for a writ of habeas corpus, which hus been issued, directing a whito man uamed Gilden to produce in court tho body of his daughter, Bertha Miltou, formerly a slave of Gildeu, and who, it is al? leged, is still retained in slavery.
