Love li Knoagh. FROM MORRIS'S FORTHCOMING VOLUME. Love la enough: ttrough the trouble and tangle. From yesterday's da wnlug to yesterday's nlghr, I sought throngh tue \ales where the prison d winds wrangle. Till, wearied and bleeding, at end of ihe light I met bim, and we wrestled, aud g; eal was my might. 0 great was my Joy, thongh no rest was around me, Though 'mid wastes or the world were we twain all alone. For methought that I conquered, and he knei: and be crowned me, And the driving rain ceased, and the wind ceased to moan, And through clefts or the clouds her planet out? shone. O tarough clefts or the cloudi 'gan the world to awaken. And the bitter wind piped, and down drirted the rain. And I was alone-and yet not forsaken, For the grass was untrodden, except by my pain; With a Shadow or the Night had I wrestled In vale And tb i Shadow of the Night and not Love was departed ; 1 #as Bore, I was weary, yet Love lived to . ?eek; Ml scaled the dark mountains, and wandered sad-hearted Over wearier wastes, where e'en sunlight was bleak, With no rest cf the night tor my soul waxen weak. With no rest of the night; for I waked 'mid a story Of a ?and wherein Love ls the light and the Lord, Where my tale shall be heard, and my wounds gain a glory. And my tears be a treasore to add to the hoard Of pleasure laid np for his people's reward. Ah, pleasure laid up I haste thou onward and listen. For the wind of the waste has no music lice this. And not thus do the rocks of the wilderness glis? ten; With the host of bis faithful through Borrow and bliss My Lord goeth forth now, and knows me for his. THE CHARLESTON NBWS FOR 1873. ANOTHER HORSE EPIDEMIC. The New York papers report the existence.. In that olly of a new disease of horses,.or rather the development of a disease supposed to originate from the seeds ol the late epi? zootic, which ls said to be more Xatal than the original disease. The papera- represen t that i since the disappearance -cr that epidemic, Horses, apparently in >z6od health, have sud? denly dropped down-,'often while in harness, and died as if o>'apoplexy. Veterinary sur? geons call the.^fisease cerebro-spinal menin? gitis. The,--8uddenness and fatality of the at lacks, bud the paralysis accompanying it, WSffi.be features that seemed to warrant the diagnosis, and as that disease ls almost Inev- j Itably fatal, very little study bas been wasted on this new phase of IL Inquiry bas Invaria? bly shown that the horses attacked by the pew disease had very severe cases of the for? mer epidemic, and it is probable that the pres? ent trouble ls due to their having been put to work too soon. So far the trouble has been most noticed in truck boraes. The car com? panies and other large owners of hornes will not admit loss from lt. A large number of horses have died in various parts af New York, and not a few been killed in the earlier stages of the attack to curtail their sufferings. THE BIRTH OF AN ICEBERG. It would be impossible, with mere words alone, to convey any adequate Idea of the action of this new-born child ol the Arctic Iroste. Think o? a solid lump ot lc??, a third of a mlle deep, and more than ba'f a mlle in lateral diameter, ..urled, like a mere toy, away into the water, and set to rolling to and ' fro by the impetus of the act as it lt were nature's mereBt foot-ball; now down one Bide, until the huge bulk was nearly capsized; then back again; then down the otherside once more with the same unresisting force; and so on, up and down, and down and up, Kwdlthlng to eud fro for hours before 'lt comes Anally to rest. Picture this, and yon will have an image ol power not to be seen by the action ot any other force npon the earth. The disturbance of the water was inconceivably floe. Waves of enormous magnitude were rc.'led np with great violence against the glacier, covering It with spray; billows came tearing down the ford, their ?rogress marked by the crackling and emai? ling foe, which was everywhere In a state of the wildest agitation for the space of several miles. Over the smaller Icebergs the water broke completely, as if a tempest was piling up the seas and heaving them fiercely against the Bhore. Then, to add still further to the commo? tion thus occasioned, the great wallowing ice? berg, which was the cause of itali, was drop {>!cg fragments from Its Bides with each occil aiton, the reports of the rupture reaching the ear above the general c'ln and clamor. Other bergs were sv?t in motion by the waves, and theBe also cropped pieces from their sides; and at last, as If lt were the grand finale of the piece-the clash of cymba;s, and the big bass drum of nature's grand orchestra -a monstrous berg near the middle c: the fiord spilt in two, and above the sound of breaking waters and falling ice, this last dis? ruption filled the air with a peal that rang amoDg the bergs and crags, and, echolDg Irom bill to hill, died away only in the void beyond the mountain tops, while, to the noisy tune, the icebergs on the fiord danced their wild', ungainly, dance upon the waters. It was many bonn before ibis Btate of wild unrest was succeeded by the calm which had pre? ceded the commencement of lt; and when, at length, the Iceberg that had been born came quietly to rest, and the other Icebergs bad ceased their dance upon the troubled sea, and the waves bad ceased their lashing, it seemed to me that. In beholding this birth of an ice? berg, I had beheld one of the most sublime exhibitions of the great forces of nature. It was, in truth, a convulsion. [From Dr. Say's land of Desolation. NATT ANS' CRYSTAL DISCOVERT FOR THE HAIR, A CLEAN, CLEAR AND HARMLESS TOILET ARTICLE, IN ONE BOTTLE For restoring to Gray or Faded Hair its original and youth ml Color, to prevent the Hair from Fall? ing and restore its Growth, eradicate and prevent the Forming of Dan dr a il, and answers every pur pose as an Elegant and Healthy Dressing for the Hair. Permit us now to direct your attention lo a few remarks In explanaron to the above, least yon should class it wi h the hundreds of articles palm? ed off dally, which produce many serlcus com? plaints to such an extent ina: the press of the country has felt itself called upon to warn the public against their farther use. First. The style In which Natl ans' Crystal Dis? covery ls presented to the buyer is a convincing guarantee that he really gets the harmless prepa? ration he wants. Second. The theory or Its action ls an equally plain, rational and convincing argument or its purity and effectiveness. By its action the roots or the bair are supplied with the print 'rle anti vitality which they need, from the very fact that the hair had begun to fall ont or become gray. When the hair shows these signs or decay, lt mu-1 be supplied with nourishment, In the Bame man? ner that vegetation, In want of \u natural sus? tainer, "water," must be supplied during the heat or summer or it will wither and die. The causes are various, and too lengthy to be properly explain-, d here; but they all produce the Bame re? Bult, namely, falling out of the bair or Its becom? ing gray, either or which are effectually stopped by the use or Nattans' Crystal Discovery. Third, its composition. In this, as lu its action, 1: ls based on entirely scientific principles, easily comprehended. Years or deep study and re? seal ch having been devoted to its preparation, the Inventor Hatters himself In his entire Buccees as evidenced by the large and dally increasing demand. These explanations must convince the most sceptical that this Invaluable article Is In no par j ticniar litte the poisonous nostrnms in use. That Crystal Discovery will perform ail its functions promptly ls further proved by the mode or Its in? troduction. Thousands or bottles have been j given away gratuitously for trial, from which the most sanguine hopes bave already been realized. Any one troubled with dandruff or Bcurfmay be readily relieved In a month or two. Those suffer? ing from headache will also find lt a very useful cooling application. As a dressing to keep the hair clean, moist and glossy, it ls unexcelled by any ott.er preparatloa now in use. We subjoin a few or the many testimonials In onr possession, the original of w: Ich may be seen at any time: w? SB is or ON, November 4, 1870. MR. ARTH na NATTAKS-Dear Slr: After avery thorough and impartial trial of your Crystal Dis? covery for a month, I feel compelled to acknowl? edge Its very great superiority over any other article now In use'for the purpose designed-the speedy restoration of the color and growth of ;he hair, and none using lt according to directions can fall, I am convinced, to attain this mach de? sired result to perfec lon. The simplicity of this preparation and its entire cleanliness affords a new opportunity to the vast numbers utterly disgusted with the poisonous nos:rums in use. Having a large number of my personal acquaint? ances who use your preparation wllh equal sue ceas, I cordially recommend Crystal Discovery to all persons desiring to use any thing or this kind. Very respectfully, P. DOYLE, No. 7011 street, N. W. WASHINGTON, D. C., July 26.1870. MR. ARTBUB NATTANS-Dear Slr: lt affords me pleasure to say that 1 have used your Crystal Dis? covery with perfect success. Having tried many othe s. I And yours superior to any I have hereto? fore used, and I cannot ruo highly recommend lt as a rapid promoter or the growth of the bair, and by a few applications restoring lt to its original color. It ls perfectly clean and free from any ob? jectionable matter. Very respect fully yours, R. W. BILVOY. K street, between 4 and 6th, N. W. Pi ice $l per bottle, or $8 bottles for $6.
