TBE NEW VICAR-GENERAL, Trie Very Rev. John Moore, D. D., succeeds the late Dr. T. Bermingham as vicar-general ol the Diocese of Charleston. Dr. Moore ls a native ot Ireland, and was educated in the celebrated College of the Propaganda, In Rome, where he passed the severe examination before the protessorsof that institution, and bad the degree of doctor of divinity conferred upon him. In this col? lege he was also ordained a priest In the year 1860, and soon after, In the same year, he came to Charleston. He was first an assistant at the Cathedral, where he remained until the destruction or that building in the great fire of 1862, alter which, at the death of the Rev. Patrick O'Neill, he;succeeded him as pastor ot St. Patrick's Church. This position he has filled up to. the time of his appointment; and the members of his congregation will be glad to learn that he will still retain this position along with that conferred upon him by his present position. - Dr. Moore ls well known and highly esteem? ed in this city.
