Be it enacted by thi-Senate and House of Representatives of. the State of South Caro? lina, now met and sitting lu General Assem? bly and by the authority of the same : That on and after the passage of this act, all guards, keepers, employees abd other officers that are now, or may hereafter be, employed at the South Carolina Penitentiary and Luna? tic Asylum, shall be exempted from serving on Juries, and from military, road or street duty. Towles and D. H. Saith, Larry Aiken, Jacob Smart, under the name and style of the "Lin? coln Light Infantry, of Darlington," and their associates and successors, be, and they are re? spectively, incorporated and made and declar? ed a body politic and corporate, in deed and in law, and, aa snob body polatio, shall have the power to nae and keep a common aeal, and the same at will to alter; to make all necessary by? laws, not repugnant to the lawa of the land, and to have succession of officers and mem? bers, conformable to such by-laws; to sue and j be sued, plead and be im pleaded in any court of law or equity in thia State; and to have, nae and enjoy all otber rights, and be subject to all other liabilities, incident to bodies cor? porate; SEO. 2.
