* . A GOOD MOVE.-Persons -passing in the

half story wooden dwelling, quietly located on
the plank road in tbe middle of John Street,

had stood in the yard of the South Carolina
Railroad, near the comer of John and Meet?
ing, and is moved out preparatory to being

appliances are used, but the structure is rolled
along by men with levers. ' It has so- far pro?
gressed but a few yards,, and the op?ration

An up-country paper has been asked this
conundrum: "What is the difference between
a town bell and Governor Scott ?" Answer

ARREST ON SUSPICION.-Simon Brown, a
colored man, was arrested on Friday night,
by the detectives, on suspicion of his having
stolen a lot of wine and other liquors from the
cellar of Mr. Fehrenbach's saloon, IQ Broad
street, near East Bay. The prisoner bad
formerly been in the employ of Mr. Fehren
bach, and with the keys' in charge, had free
access to the wine cellar where the supplies'of ?
wines, Ac, weje stored. He was dismissed
fron^his place a few days ago, and the pro?
prietor suddenly discovered that the cellar had
been robbed of wine, Ac, to thejralue of two
hundred dollars'. Elmon was arrested by the
de te ct 1res, "and has been turned over to a trial
justice lor the preliminary examination.

held on the evening of the 10th instant, the
Adger Rifle Club'and Marion Rifle Club were

LAUNCH.-The new schooner Minnehaha
was launched on Saturday forenoon from the
ship-yard of Mr. Jose Silva, at the east end of
Calhoun street. Her owner, Mr. J. B. Bissel!,
