The following important Ordinances were
read a firf* time at the last meeting of City
Council, and will come up for discussion, we
believe, on Tuesday-next:
A BILL FOB THE ISSUE OP SIX FEB CENT. COUPON
BONDS TO THE AMOUNT OF FIVE HDNDBED
THOUSAND DOLLARS, PAYABLE, PRINCIPAL AND
INTEREST, TN GOLD, TO REDEEM THE FAST
DUX STOCK OF THE CITY OF CHARLESTON.

SECTION 1.' That six per cent, coupon bonds,
obligatory on the corporation of the City ol
.Charleston, to an amount not to exceed hve
hundred thousand dollars, redeemable in
thirty years In gold, and interest in gold, at
the rate of six per ceat per annum, payable In

THE CENTRAL NATIONAL BANK OF COLUM?
BIA.-At the annual meeting it was shown that
the net profits for eleven months were $20,902,
and that the value of the stock, after paying
dividends, Is $105 88 a share. The following

BAL MASQUE.-The fourth grand annual
masquerade of the Germania Bund will be
given at the Academy of Music, on Munday,
the 5l h of February, under the superintendence
of a committee ot the mest enterprising and
energetic young members of the bund. The
society la of a late date, but Us annual balls
are already a marked feauture among the
German iestivities in our elly, and the present
ball will doubtless surpass even their previous
efforts. Tickets of admis sion may be procured

present to welcome them as they filed

The Knights of Eutaw, (Mr. Conner,
Charleston,) St. John's and Pinopolis hav
both carried four rings, the judges decU

John's failed in taking off a ring, but Pino;

first prize.
Another course was ordered between Eut,
and St. John's for the second prize, and Eut
tilted first. The Iron hooks to which the rio
were hung had been befare objected to
some of the knights as dangerous, as t
sequel showed they were right. The knlg

run a lilt for lt. The Knight of Charleston di
dared that, as the originator and manager <
the Tournament, he had not intended to coi
tend for any ot the prizes, and positively d
clined to Ult for this one. The prize was tbe
awarded to the Knight of Fairfield.
The day was now declining, and the crow
o? vehicles and pedestrians began to move o
the grounds. The array of knights was con
posed principally of gentlemen from lb
country, and the air of busifiess about tb
affai r extinguished the romance which mlgt
have mingled with the occasion. This we
observable In the absence of a crown and
Queen of Love and Beauty, chosen by the vii
ter in the tourney to wear ir. The exhlbitiot
however, afforded much pleasure to loos
present, and will bear a repetition"at no dis
tant day.

and Its beneficent influences and good works
were acknowledged by all during its working
days up to the breaking out of the late war.
It is now reorganized on a complete footing,
and cannot lull to accomplish much good
among the manners who visit the city.
THE JET?U KALL.-The first annual soiree of |
the .ffitna Steam-Fire Engine Company took
place last evening at their hall in Queen
street, and proved a most delightful success.
The adjoining hall of Hook and Ladder Com?
pany, No. 1, was thrown open, and with a fine
band of music stationed In the connecting
doorway, afforded a splendid space for tue
terpsichorean pleasures of the evening. The
hall was brilliantly illuminated, and a large
number of the fair sex had prepared them?
selves lor the conquests and enjoyments which
the occasion seemed to portend. Although
they bad lain aside their red coats, the boys
retained all the Joyous spirits they usually
covered, and with Just an agreeable competi?
tion for partners, the evening sped pleasantly
away. The season has been handsomely In?
augurated by the .Etnas, and not one of the
young ladies who attended the ball, and are
able to read this In the morning, will refuse
to call lt one of the pleasantest entertainments
they ever were at.
THE ACADEMY OF Mosio.-The. announce?
ment yesterday, that instead of the concerts
the WatklnB Troupe would give a performance
at the Academy, to which the tlc!:et-holders
In the prize scheme would be admitted free,
spreai through the city like wildfire, and ear- j
ly In the evening lhere was a rush for the
seats, the like ol which was never dreamed of |
by the most enthusiastic of agents and mana?
gers. The orchestra choir and parquette
were s.oon filled, bul the crowd kept pouring
in a; if the Academy was an India rubber'
bail, which could stretch out and accommo?
date any number. The whole space was soon
j Jammed with the crowd, and In the aisles and
near the walla a dense mass of faces met the
view. The doors fjr twenty feet out were
wedged up with those pushing to get in, and
hundreds turned away In disgust. The galle?
ries were a living mass, and In every available
standing place In the house was a pair of feet
which the owner could hardly swear to as he
was swayed backwards and forwards by the
