From the evi? dence given beiore Trial Justice Magrath, who Investigated the oasev it seems that Mc? Neill had como over from Eilsto with the in? tention ol shooting a man who had seduced his daughter, and had lain in walt with a double-barrelled gun by the side of a small foot-path leading to the plantation of Dr. W. S. Whaley, near the John's Island Ferry. Graham had been In the store on the place af a late hour on Saturday night ind lefc to go home. Nest morning he was found lying across the foot-path, shot through the head and apparently dying. The gun had apparently been discharged but a very short distance lrom the wounded mah, nnd its con? tents entered the left temple, making athole about an inch and a quarter in diameter, and came out at the back ol the head, about two inches behind the left ear. Notwitbsiandlr.| this fearful wound, the sufferer was still alive, though In an unconscious state, when the offi? cer left for the t city with bis prisoner. To make matters worse, it now appears from the admissions of McNeill, that he shot the wrong man, and does not know Graham at all. He was committed io Jail until this morning, when the case will receive further Investiga? tion. It is impossible that Graham can sur? vive his wounds. AMUSEMENTS. 1 -Norma"* at the Academy.
