BURGLARY.-Between ll o'clock on Tuesday night and yesterday morning the residence of Dr. Middleton Michel, No. 130 Wentworth street, near Rutledge, was entered by burglars, and sev? eral articles of value carried off. The thieves effected their entrance and exit without alarm? ing the household, and left no clue which might lead to their discovery. The matter has been re m ported at the Detective office, but so far without result. Alien was brought before Trial Justice Magrath yesterday morning, charged with an assault and battery noon a colored boy named Givens. Givens called the police and had him arrested on the above charges. It was proved that Givens had not been struck or assaulted by Allen, and the prosecution appear? ing to be merely a malicious one, the prisoner waa acquitted. Fidea, at Oakley Station, assumed a phase of deep Interest yesterday morning, and the office or Trial Justice T. J. Mackey was crowd? ed all day. The principal excitement was the staten: ent of Ran Bolden, who at first attempted to prove an alibi, but being detected, now came out with what purports to be the full story. This confession of Bolden had beea made ou Tuesday morning, and Officers Burke and Davis having followed up the clue, arrived in the city yest-i-rday morulng with Sam Williams, George Parker and Bud-iy Raven-1, the three negroes who are Implicated In the murder by Bolden'a confession. Hearing that Sam Williams was at Branchville, the officers took the morning train to that place, and, on arriving, inquired for Wil? liams. They soon learned that he was at Mr. Frery's place, about three miles east of Branch? ville. There they went, and came upon Williams as he was Bitting In his house at work nuking a bench. His ram I ly was all around h.m when the officers called him and told him they wanted him. He came willingly and d d not inquire the reason of his arrest until he arrive' at Branchville. When he did make this Inquiry ne reply was, "yon will soon find out." Ha was then confined by Trial Justice Pohl until the negroes -."gan to assemble around him, when he was placed in a box car on a freight train and, guarded by the officers, was brought down to Summ erv.HP. Here the party spent Tuesday night, and, tskfng theear y train, arrived in the city about 4 o'clock yesterday morning. Baddy Ravenel wa? captured at work at a tur? pentine farm, about five miles from Bonnean's Station on the Northeastern Ra lroad, and Parker was found in his house at Gourdln's. Neither made any resistance ( r asked wny he was arrest? ed, but followed the captors like lambs. For rear or an attempt at rescue, these prisoners were placed cn the up train and taken to Florence. There they were placed on the train at 2 o'clock yesterday morning and brought to the city. The three were separately confronted with Bol? den at the Detective office. As soon as he saw the first he exclaimed, "Tba: is Sam Williams who went into the house with White and the others to kill Mr. Fi tea," The others were also Identified by him as the persons spoken of in his confes? sen, who were all present and abetting ihe mur? der. One Tor disease of hearr, dated October 16, One for want or vitality rrom premature birth, dated October 16. B?,irr ROBBERY ON THE BAY. A Swindling Drayman-A Canning Device. On Tuesday evening, Mr. Henry Buck, a retailer m th.- upper part or the city, came down to the Bay and effected several large purchases of supplies for lils store. He travelled around to several of the large houses a- d ordered his pur chaves to be packed up, In readiness to be called for by his dray. This was all done about dusk, between 5 and 6 o'clock, and soon after Mr. Buck left for up town. Sbohly after Mr. Buck had le t, a dray Stoppel in front of the store or Messrs. Wagener A MouBees, and a colored man jumping OUT, asked 1* Mr. Buck had purchased anything there. This was answered lu the affirmative, and the gruff drayman said he had been sent Tor them. Everything went as naturally as possible, and, without notici-g the man or the number.of the dray license, the goods were delivered, to-wit: three bags of shot, Nos. 6, 7 and 8, one box of scap, on -pound bars,' and two pounds of cloves. Btsidts the goods, orders were given to the draymaD, as Mr. Buck had directed, for goods bought at tbe other houses. The dray with Ita mysterious dtiver left, and, following its orders, called Sr. t at the es? tai? lshment of T. M. Cater and made a handsome raise or t- n barns, which had been bought by Mr. Bock, and which were ready at a moment's notice to be delivered to bis dray. Keeping on the dray next arrived at Messrs. Steff-n', Werner A Ducker's, and handing In the order, a keg of but? ter, a half-barrel of bacon strips, a dozen brooms and a barrel of potatoes, marked H. B., were tnmbled out in a hurry and placed upon the dray. Still further on, the driver halted his team In front or Mr. J. S. Schlrmer's, and hln'ing the talismanic name, a tierce of middling rice was quickly rolled ont and placed on the d ay. Amazed at this windfall, the dray with Its driver disappeared in the railing shades or night, and has not since been heard from. Yesterday morning, Mr. Buck sent around for his goods, and the my&tiOeation or the parties con' cerned can better be imagined than described, lt was some time before the true state of the case was understood, but the absence cf the goods and the explanations following at each store, proved that a cool and systematic robbery bad been effected, it was evident that the party bad watched Mr. B. during his purchases, and went to Messrs. Wagener A MonBees's SB soon as he left. The orders given him may have suggested the following np or the trick and extending tbe robbery. The matter was reported at once to the Detective office, but so rar no trace has been dis. covered OJ the rascally drayman.
