THE CROFS.-The general progres? o? the plant? ing season ha3 ?>een, cn the whole, satisfactory np to this tlm^, with' good prospects at mcBt points, and labor working favoraoly. The weather commenced cool, but was not sufficiently sharp to interrupt vegetation, although a light frost occurred In the upper portion of the cotton belt, with some injury to the most susceptible plants. Later in the week the season became warm. THE RECEIPTS.-The arrivals at the colton ports for the week up to Friday last were 63,042 oales, against 64,150 thc week previous, and 40,575 for the time last season. At Kew Oilcans the re? ceipts were 23,519 bales, In contrast *with 16.522 the week of the year before. The total supplies at the cotton porta from Semptember 1, 1870, np to tfie latest mau dates, were 3,490,495 bales, against 2,621,426 the year previous, shewing an increase of 975,059 bales. The market for spirits turpentine was quiet, and no sales of Importance transpired for much of the week, the excitement and advance which lntely tock place having caused a suspension of operations. But yesterday a good demand pre? vailed at low rates, and near 200 bbls were disposed of, part at about 4Sc f. pallon. Rosins have been in moderate demand, and sales of -bbls have taken place, among which were 1201bis extra pale at S? 50, pale at $5,18 dull at $3 5C@4, 24 opaque and 5 strained dip at $250, 28 Nos -2 and 3 at $2 05.
