His Honor gave notice that on Friday the pro? cess dockets would be called. The court then adjourned until io o'clock thia morning. CLUBS AND STARS.-Chloe B ur bond, a young girl lodged by her father for safekeeping, and ?opposed to be insane, was referred to the city registrar. Two white men who, like the babes in the woods, conld not find their way home, and laid themselves down to sleep on the sidewalk, were discovered by a policeman, and lodged in the Guardhouse on the charge or being drunk. They explained the situation to the Mayor next morn? ing, and were discharged on the plea of the first offence. Davis, ex-professor in the University 'of St. Petersburg, will deliver bis first lecture on scientific travels tn Southern Russia, Persia, China and Africa, this evening, at 8 o'clock, in the Lyceum Hall of Prof. Holmes, comer King and Wentworth streets. -The professor will pre sent to his hearers some Interesting and lively Sketches ef the life, customs and manners of the half-savage inhabitants of the unknown regions he has penetrated. We hear, with much pleas ore,' that Dr. Davis, who was for somer time a travelling companion of the celebrated Dr. Liv ingstone, in Africa, ls enabled to give some Tm portant account of the whereabouts of this dis? tinguished traveller. -o- , n IMPORTANT TO PILOTS.-One of the hands employed on board-of the pilot boat Wild Cat brought snit against Captain Thomas Jones fer a month's wages, and the case was tried yesterday before Trial Justice Levy. The man had bean hired by the month, and left the vessel in the mid die of the month, without notice, when she was about to proceed to sea. It was also shown that -tte boat thus left waa unable to go to sea, not? withstanding there were several large vessels ex? pected at the ban and in this way she lost much. Trial Justice Mackey appeared lor the captain, ana claimed that the man's wages were not only forfeited by the act of leaving, but that the plain? tiff waa hable in damages. After a thorough ex ? amlnatlon, and hearing the arguments on both ?ides, the Justice dismissed the suit. THE LESSER RIOT AT THE RACE TRACT. Robert Davis and Harrison Carron, who were ar? rested and brought to the Guardhouse on Tues day evening for creating a disturbance at the Race Track, were turned over by the Mayor .to. Trial Justice Levy for examination. From the) evidence before the trial justice lt appears that Carron, who was much intoxicated, was arrested early in the fracas by Roundsman Lyons, who brought him out of the bar-room, the sceae of the ?lsturbance. In the excited crowd that sur? rounded bim his friend Davis thought him in trouble and rushed in. Roundsman Michel, seeing Davis thus prominent, waded in and caught hold of bun. Davis resisted, and in the scnmo that en? sued Captain Hendricks came up and Bhouted to Davis to let go the officer. Davis did not do this, and Captain Hendricks, taking a dnb from Roundsman Lyons, strack Davis over the head, when he succumbed, and was brought to the city. Mr. Hogan, who was in the bar-room door, and had Jnet separated one of the prisoners from a struggle with another colored man, was struck at by him with a stick. The parties were bound over in the sam of $soo each to appear for trial at A-the next term of the Court of General Sessions. Pompey Virgin, the man who entered the store of J. Meyers, No. 679 King street, a few nights ago, and was surprised m the act of leaving with, a trunk fall of valuables on-his head, was brought J before Trial Justice McKinlay yesterday morning, and, with his wife, who had been arrested on the preceding day, was examined on the charge of burglary and larceny. The articles amassed by Pompey and found in possession of his wife were fa?y of the value of $300, and his burglary Slid the -ac! ol setting Arc to the house having been clearly proven, he was committed to Jail in default of $1000 to await his trial at the next tenn of theOourt of General Sessions.
