The credit of South Carolina is affected far more by uncertainty and doubt than by the plain troth, however disappointing the unvarnished facts may be, and we are satis? fied that, ii the State officials have no further concealments, and make known oar exact condition, the credit of South Carolina will soon stand as high as that of any State in.the Sooth. The New York Dully Bulletin discusses the cotton prospects in a very pungent way. -, It shows that should the receipts for the re- j mainder of the year be only the.same a3 for < tlie corresponding period in-i870, we should i fi ave ah actual crop of* 3* 623*, OOO bales. Tnose who have recently returned t from an examination of the cotton reg iou uniformly report a very large amount of cot- 1 ton ia tbe interior. They do not dispute : that some of the planters have been driven j by their necessities to market cotton earlier than they otherwise would, but think that, nevertheless, even the class thus influenced hr compulsion have a considerable balance of their product on hand, while the wealthier ( planters have held back their cotton in Hie hope of un upward reuction in prices.
