R SECCBING VAGBANTS_Joe Young, Caesar Grant and Robert Sweeney, the youths captured tn the late raid by the detectives on the "fence," in Chinquapin lane, were tried yes? terday morning before Trial Justice Schroder, on a charge of larceny and vagrancy. They were round guilty, and sent to jail as va? grants for the rollowlng terms: Grant and Young, 30 days, and Sweeney 10 days. The leniency to? wards the latter is owing to the fact that he "up and told" all about the others. THE BOWEN BIGAHT CASE.-A Washington paper of Tuesday says: '-Some twenty persons, summoned from South Carolina as witnesses In the case of Bon. C. C. Bowen, M. C. from that State, charged with bigamy, arrived in the city last night by the Orange and Alexandria road, and are imartered at Watklu's, on Ninth street, between G and U. It ls expected that the case will be called In a day or two." Tupper. ^ IMPORTANT DECISION.-The United States Circuit Court, for Louisiana, has just decided the case of Alston, trustee, vs. Adger, executor, in? volving thc validity or slave contracts. The court held first, That the State statute of limitations could not be allowed currency during the war. 2d, That If slaves were recognized as property under the. laws of South Carolina (the place of contract) and the United States, at the time of the contract, the bond was valid and must be en? forced. 3d, That while the statute or limitations was stopped, no Interest could be allowed. ROBBERY OF A BANE.-Elizabeth Jones, a colored girl, was brought before the Mayor yes? terday morning on a charge of larceny and va? grancy. The evening before she had entered a honse at thc corner of Mozyck and Magazine street, and while playing with Cornelius" Walter had privately appro; rla:ed a small iron savings bank belonging to Hie latter, and carried lt off. Th? bank contained a deposit of thirty-three cents, and Elizabeth having been arrested at the instance of Cornelius, me bank and Ita contents were found with her and recovered. Gleaves and L. S. Langley, com? missioners of election for Beaufort County, was brought to Issue. The charge made against the above named parties is, that during ami subse? quent to thc election they altered the names on ballots and changed the votes after being deposit? ed In the boxes, whereby the result or the vote for member of Congress from the Second District was materially affected.
